I also think the last photo looks nice. I do like the black sconce examples from Beverly and kandrewspa.
”Why sconces I hate them.”
Please.🙄😵💫
What nice karma to have people you like as the new owners of your family home. I'm happy for you.
The design is giving me contact paper vibes! My sister had wallpaper in her room in a very similar pattern, but royal blue, lime and purple. Ahh, the things parents put up with!
Congrats on the sale!
Caftan that I really like. Inspired by the wallpaper?
One of the goats has an ear that was nibbled by his mom when she was cleaning the afterbirth, his name is Vincent van Goat
We’re in Lecco on Lake Como now. This is the view from our room, and the top of one of the mountains. It is quite cold here now, but absolutely beautiful.
We spent the day in Milan, and saw Da Vinci’s Last Supper. They allow thirty five people in at a time for 15 minute viewings, and tickets sell out months ahead. Considering it was open to the elements after the building was bombed in WWII, it looks pretty good! We also went to the Duomo, an astonishing gothic cathedral with 135 spires. We were able to tour the rooftop, too, which was very fun on a sunny day.
Sharing some photos of the end result! We’re very happy with it.
Yaaaaay ! What a gorgeous difference you are making in that focal spot, Kjoy ! Way to go !!
Thanks Kjoy i’m needing some blue upstairs in my house and I am looking for the right Colour.
Thanks everyone. It’s lighter and so pretty in person! Drapery nearly matches pale wall color but doesn’t show in these photos! Loving it. Not for everyone but we love it!
Haha! Happy to be of service. I recall these various furniture layout options. I generally think sofas and chairs are best, most flexible options especially in smaller spaces as yours. A sectional would also seat fewer people. A common unexpected problem people find out. I can’t wait to replace my sofa/chaise since our needs have changed. It was great in my dreams for our young grandsons but they ended up preferring the floor! 12 years later I want a condo size purple velvet sofa! Found the perfect one but the legs don’t come off so i can’t get it in through these doors! Super bummer so I understand the sofa selection dilemma! But it will come when it’s suppose to! I just feel you need to stay light and airy for sofa and super comfortable especially with your back issues. Warmth and color can easily be added with chair treatments and accessories. Lots of textures layered in but simple to keep that Hygge effect you love. Practical when placing in next home too. So a good strategy to consider. I think we turned a big corner today in our new place. Had my handyman here all morning and I am breaking a lot of rules to be able to repurpose most of what we kept. We are already feeling really good here so very good thing that! The greater privacy and feeling of safety is an unexpected blessing!
Some different chair options/colors for you to ponder in your own room:
Note: I purposely used a pic taken from the kitchen before you moved furniture in so you can see how nice the island contrasts the furniture & complements the FP at the same time, granted, this is not the true island color because it is in shadow, the walls aren't real true either, the photo exposure is lightened as much as possible without the windows completely turning to glaring spots ; ). I snuck in a green chair, only diversion from your inspo and color pallet (I think).
And with rugs:
Yes. Dark colors recede and so less shadows. Go for the darker fireplace wall and the shiplap. I think this is really coming along. As to rug, I think things might get too heavy with a deep color rug. A medium tone that works with new sofa is worth considering. The rug in Julie’s has other supporting features such as a lot of natural light, a high ceiling so the darker rug works well. Food for thought.
