First I need to see the room and IMO the small sample leaned on the dark cabinet ooks like you tried to match the rug and missed . Waht style is the furniture , are you removing the rug? More info please. I see dark wood in the stools so if all else stays I would do the dark. but really I need some context .. Post pics of the pieces and the space since often huge dark pieces make small spaces look even smaller. Post the pics here ina comment DO NOT start another post.
It's much easier to coordinate dark brown furniture pieces than to try to match a whitewashed finish later on. If you buy a full suite of bedroom furniture now, the color won't matter unless something gets damaged and needs replacement.

I much prefer the dark that you have. Like Patricia said, the light sample looks like an unintended miss since it's so close to the carpet color.
