Things are going slowly - we have moved a few things in our pickup, have gotten rid of a lot of plants (given free to neighbors), and have just had the landscaping finished for both front and back yards. That was expensive, but we needed new sod and tons of pruning and removal of unwanted plants.
We have picked colors for the exterior of the house - the teal will remain and the bottom part and back of the house will be a few shades lighter than it is now, but not white. We have bids for painting inside and out, and the total came to slightly over $6,000.
We are going to Cruel World at the Rose Bowl on May 11 and had always planned to wait until after that to move. I had sort of hoped to stay in L.A. long enough for the 2028 Olympics, which will be happening before Kevin retires, but he wants to try to work remotely from Palm Springs and is anxious to leave L.A. - I am not.
I just had my annual physical on Tuesday, and my doctor put me on new medication that he needs to check in a month, and so I have a follow-up visit May 16. I plan to start the major part of the move on May 20, and then the painters can come inside May 27 or 28, but they can start the exterior before then. Anyway, we will be out before Memorial Day. Our agent has said that we do not need to stage the house because it is not that large (1535 square feet), and we do not need that expense. The first agent (whom I fired) wanted us to spend thousands on staging, and she wanted the inside and outside of the house all white, but that won't be happening, unless we cannot sell the house with the teal on the front. A lot of people like the teal, and it is in keeping with the character of the neighborhood, where people have a lot of houses painted dark or deep colors.
No other major network has been successfully sued for knowingly and repeatedly lying about a major news story. That's the difference between FOX and the other major players.
It may be factual that there’s a gas station charging those prices, but that’s only a useful data point if you’re trying to convince your useful idiots that it’s somewhere near a norm in that area.
Gas prices are indeed up in my area after having dipped to around the $3 mark a few months ago, but I figute it’d be more helpful to say that it’s averaging around $3.65 than to quote $4.24 that the area’s most expensive station is charging for regular, cash.
"Fox is ONLY ”legendary“ in radical liberal brainwashed minds who watch, for example, CNN amd/or MSNBC. The latter being the worst of them all!"
I don't fit your propaganda-driven political description. I don't regularly watch TV news, not either of the two you mention. It's typically only occasionally when I'll look in on what I still think of as legacy broadcast network news for something major going on.
It doesn't take much in the way of powers of perception or analysis to recognize that the national version of Fox News is as biased and unidimensional as could be possible. Maybe MSNBC is like that too. I can see an obvious slant in the tone of reporting when it's present.
If you don't see the blatant bias of Fox then you're in its target audience. Too bad.
For 9 custom framed prints...it's a fantastic price! If you like the look...you know how it feels...the way you remember the places....cool! This is for above your bed?
That's a great arrangement - and at a good price too. I had Framebridge mat and frame a photo of our place in PA as a gift for DH one year. They did a really nice job - but framing one photo is much simpler than creating an entire gallery with different sizes and frames.
Very pretty! You started with the vanity, and that piece just makes the room! Enjoy.
Nicely done! I love the vanity.
You must be so thrilled - it's fabulous. I love all of your tile choices and fixtures, and how the tone of the vanity warms everything. Very clever to run the baseboard along the shower too. I know how much time and effort you put into researching and planning and it all paid off beautifully.
Not scoldy at all. I also thought if a person hosted fundraisers or school or work events in their home that drunk monkey wallpaper wouldn't be a good idea.
I like the birds.
It’s a rabbit hole to be sure, but spoonflower has tons of great peel n stick wallpaper. I’m always partial to Chinoiserie.
Oh, no, @mtnrdredux_gw! I think I would make them take it all back and send me a whole new batch so that there wouldn’t be an issue with dye lots not matching.
@palimpsest, I remember you telling us about that. A workroom once lost a raft of non-replaceable vintage trim for draperies that I was having fabricated. I suspect they used it on another project, probably accidentally. I had to scout around frantically for contemporary replacement trim. I hope you have a better resolution.
I know you know how to say No, Not Happening, No Way and press on. I hope you are within the window to dispute the charge just in case. I would call the bank and alert them so they can make a note in their records even if you need to give them time to try to do the right thing.
Sent to one of your other addresses they had on file, or to a completely random/not yours address?
I don't know what has happened these days. The incompentency is astounding. Our wall tile for our bathroom remodel arrived yesterday. Shipped from Italy. 24 boxes of tile. 20 in the correct color (blanco). 4 in the wrong color (bronze). WTF? How does that happen?!?!?
Actually portable sorts of things seem to be commanding higher prices than furniture.
I am not so sure about the sofa. It depends upon the frame. Of course I got my sofas for free, all I had to do is reupholster them, but the upholsterer said the one is probably a $12,000 frame, at any rate were it to be made new. (and then it would have to be upholstered). If this went for $4K and you spend another $4K on upholstery, you'd be ahead of the game, still.
Well, I have to admit I like the colors, shades of taupe are faves and I do love the style. I still might jump up in alarm if I sat next to you and didn’t realize what it was until I did realize 😵💫 I have a thing about snakes. I don’t even like typing the word!
Hope this doesn’t scare anyone…my snake pendant. Pave diamonds with a pink sapphire eye, can’t really tell from the pic.
Now I want this way more expensive Bvlgari version 🤦🏻♀️
I was holding off saying anything because I really don't care for it . Then I saw Jilly 's comment and I felt vindicated. ((I really don't like it. And I may be some hick from BrooklyntoNJtoPa so what do I know)..
I did very much enjoy the forensic decorating!
In the interest of full disclosure, my quest for new bathing suits yielded nothing. So I will go with 2 that I have, one which is nice fits properly and the other which is ok. I was also in the market for new cover up. When I wasn't seriously thinking about a beach vacation, I would see so many nice ones. Of course now that I was focused, there were none that met my needs..... and then amazingly I went into a Walmart for some toiletries and thought I might as well look there. .... yes, they had midi length tshirt material with short sleeve dresses that will work great for a coverup. I bought 2, for a total of $23.98. Also got a solid.
They're not perfection but it's nice to have something new and fresh that works.
This is one- it definitely is between midi and almost maxi- so covered up, shoulders covered. loose fitting, fine to walk around and into a restaurant.
Funky this comes in several colors including white

I was going to vote for both 8 and 9 but I guess there is one vote per customer,
Love the lamps
