Kcooz, thank you. An accent wall could certainly be determined later. You'll be glad to know that I've delayed the fireplace tile decision until after I see the other pieces in the room.
The room that is currently my favorite will become less formal as I implement the ideas, but I hope to use the same colors. I don't have the elaborate architecture, but at least I have crown mouldings for a bit of interest. I won't have the formal chairs; mine need to be larger and more comfortable. Drapes will be lighter, but I'll make sure to have charcoal somewhere. My hope for an antique piece on the tv wall would be more primitive. So several style changes. I expect the sofa to be very similar, as well the area rug, an accent table, and perhaps the coffee table.
I welcome ideas for applying this color scheme to the pieces I need. Sofa as shown. I need color suggestions for two chairs, one taller, and a tufted ottoman (if not an old trunk.) Charcoal 200% polyester non-crush "velvet" for the taller chair? Warm leather for the lower swivel near the kitchen island? No idea for the ottoman.
Soon as I finish hanging the drapes in my bedroom I will post a photo! returned home yesterday afternoon.….here is my sweet baby Grace
Hi Cubby. Aren't we always attracted to plants we can't grow!
I hope you'll share some photos of yours!
Three ideas.
The walk in closet in the master br can be an office. Add a wall of closets in the room.
Saving the guest room for ocassional visits while you work from home every day seems like an upside down priority. Furnish the office with a murphy bed for the once in awhile guests and give yourself an organized, dedicated work room.
Making the living room a game room makes sense if that is how you live every day. In other words, if you and the kids play ping pong daily, be good to yourselves and enjoy. But isnt ping pong an evening thing? Can the game room do double duty? Office by day, game room by night?
You are welcome..I would keep the rug shades of neutrals if possible you can add a pillow or two to pull the green around the room.
We have a very similar wall to yours in our home and were also thinking of doing and accent wall somehow but eventually decided against it. I think you could use some curtains to soften the slider and a new ceiling fan and then art and accessories. Here is my wall. For comparison our ceiling height is 12ft compared to your 11ft.
@chispa Thank you - I love the rug and credenza, the colors work really well together! Sometimes I think opposing patterns are cool, maybe that's theoreticlally wrong though! Thank you on the centering seems to be a consensus!
If not west facing I would do bigger windows and scrap floating shelves. Maybe do taller cabinets instead. If you really want to display things, you could do shelves like this (note the height of those cabinets is more than 36"):
I like the picture without a sofa table, the back of the sofa is fine to look at and doesn't crowd the chairs shown in one of the photos. I would also bring your two blue chairs in so they are partially one the rug and part of the seating arrangement.
It's all backed up too far. Rug/sofa /table need to move several feet closer to the fireplace. Then the table would have a showcase vs being crammed in a walk way.
I think I would spend most on replaceing the shower unit…keep vanity and have it painted green..keep the gold hardware and faucet (unless it needs new). remove the mirror and replace with gold framed mirror a bit less heavy looking..new sconces…you may not even need wallpaper..fun art and done…floor is cute can it stay?
