When large manufacturers discontinue a line, it is because it is not selling, and/or they’ve had a lot of returns or warranty calls. They are in business to make a profit.

I believe Broan makes the Wolf ceiling-mounted exhaust. It will be interesting to see if Wolf also discontinues it, or finds another supplier.

Discontinued, or current, it doesn't matter. They are inadequate for any real ventilation needs, and almost impossible to maintain properly.

^^Agree. And to elaborate on @Minardi's comment, to clean a ceiling-mounted exhaust means getting out a ladder, climbing up there, pulling down the filter, carrying it down the ladder, cleaning it, climbing back up to the ceiling while carrying it, re-installing, putting ladder away. A fall risk for you or family members. If you want your handyman or housekeeper to do it, make sure your home insurance has adequate liability coverage if they fall.

@purpleplume echoing that stainless steel does not rust. It is stainless steel. People saying their stainless steel sink has rusted have left something in it that rusted. That is all.

There are a couple reasons I do not recommend Create Good Sinks. But your other post - that you never returned to expand on your 2 sentences - indicated your design build firm was causing delays on your project. If you are now choosing a sink, one might assume that your design build firm is not causing delays. But we can’t assume. It’s a mystery since you posted 2 sentences about it, asked people to vote on it, and that was all.

@debrak6 - in answer to your question, the "seamless drain" is not actually seamless. The seam is just farther down into the drain. It will have gunk the same as a regular seam at the drain does. So either the gunk isn't visible but it's there with the "seamless" drain, or it is visible with a regular drain and you clean it because you can see it. Which one you prefer is individual. Also, the seamless drain has a slightly smaller diameter than a non-seamless drain. This would be a problem if your hands are a little larger and you need to fish something out of the drain. The seamless drain fits disposals fine if they are the continuous-feed style. If you prefer a batch feed disposal, those will not fit in the seamless drain.

@HU-910663146 Were you able to physically view a display unit of your Ruvati sink model on the floor (or any Ruvati unit) on display? I've checked with our nearby HD and they told me no displays; Ruvati is only available to order from HD online. I've never seen a Ruvati IRL and would really like to before finalizing our sink choice.

Purpleplume, I did not see my specific model before ordering. I believe it is a new model. I've looked at so many sinks that I imagine I did see a Ruvati sink. Because I have seen so many sinks, I knew what sort of features that I wanted so seeing my particular sink in person before ordering wasn't as big a deal as you would think. Also, there just were not many sinks that ticked off all the boxes that I wanted. That is--not zero radius, stainless steel, 16 gauge, 33" width, one basin, center drain, workstation.

For example, I know that I hate zero radius sinks. The "working models" (sinks with actual water hooked up to them) that were zero radius sinks at the numerous showrooms I have visited all seemed to have gunk in the corners. So, I knew that I wanted a rounded radius corner. I could look at an internet picture and see what sort of corner the sink had without having to actually see it in person. The gauge of the sink is how thick it is. So if I know that a sink is 16 gauge, I don't have to see it actually in person to have a sense of its quality.

The beauty of buying from Home Depot is that the sink was shipped to my house for free and is returnable. There are probably other stores with equally attractive selling policies. So, you can order the sink, and if you don't like it, simply return it.

How long it takes is a function of client decision making abilities, scope of work, and availability of designers and contractors.

Design time can be 30 days, or 3 years. Changing minds and changing scopes affects the target end date.

Typically, the cabinet lead time is 9-18 months, for an in demand high end custom maker. No demo should occur until the cabinets are less than 30 days out. All materials other than cabinets and counter slabs should be on site, before the project start demo date is finalized.

In demand contractors often are working multiple projects. Changing scopes after demolition puts your project at the back of the line for scheduling, because all the people who did not have changes will be ahead of you.

Even if you do not change your mind after demo, you are part of a shared labor pool who have other commitments besides yours. You are not their only project. All scheduling is an ongoing juggling act, for every portion of a project. There simply are not enough good contractors to keep up with the demand. Wanting someone with a quicker schedule often leads to hiring poor quality, who were not in demand for a reason.

Depending on the work being done and the area in which the home is located, getting permits and waiting for inspections can also cause delays. We moved walls, raised ceilings, added windows, and moved electric and plumbing. Permits and inspections were required for all of those, as far as I know. A remodel that is replacing cabinets and counters, but not moving structural things around, won't have the same delays. But you may still have delays waiting for appliances etc.

We did a whole house remodel. Closed in January 2023, got permits in March/April, and moved in in October, so 10 months after closing but about 8 months after permits. We weren't living there which made things much easier. I switched my choice of DW brand and also my custom cabinet source due to delays. I did a ton of research, worked closely with my designer, and told my builder to let me know in advance when he needed a decision. I didn't want to be the cause of any delays if I could help it.

My favorite kitchens to design are the ones where the clients know what they like, regardless of what is popular, and they trust me enough to deliver without seeing an inspiration photo of the exact kitchen. I'm just finishing up this kitchen where the direction I received was "a little mid-century modern and French Provincial and Scandinavian".

A pro who does not have a signature look should understand that not every kitchen will appeal to everyone who sees it. It's a risk you take when you post photos of your work. But the most important part of our role is to understand what will make our clients happy and to deliver it in a functional and well-designed way. Good design can happen regardless of the aesthetic. And regardless of whether or not it is appreciated by everyone on a message board.

"I’m already over it. This kitchen trend is everywhere and overdone."..."so overdone I don’t see anything else -anywhere on any new design the past six months"..."This is the pickle ball of the kitchens"..."I’m a little sick of looking at the same exact style in 100 new kitchens if 2024"

And then: "It wasn’t meant to have any negativity towards anybody. If you direct negativity please keep me out of it."

Your post most definitely was meant to be negative. The subject title was negative. The words you wrote were negative. And posting a photo of a lovely expensive-looking kitchen just to denigrate it, which means denigrating the thousands of people who frequent this forum who might have opted for white kitchens. And who spent their hard-earned tens of thousands on a white kitchen. So you "want to be kept out of it"? But you disparaged anyone who chose a white kitchen - why do you get a pass?

In any case, that's a myopic viewpoint as a designer, since people opt for white kitchens in that pictured design for many reasons, not because it may or may not be a trend. Perhaps their kitchens are dark and they want a white color and bright metallics. Perhaps their last kitchen was wood and they want a change. Perhaps they just like a white kitchen, only to have you come on here to be supercilious about it.

This post caught my eye because I am just now looking into bringing some white into my stained wood cabinet kitchen, circa 2002 with a black island and black hood accents. Others may feel like black is back. So, while the white kitchen with wood may be worn out and overdone to YOU, it's a great kitchen to me.

And, I really don't know how to react to your pickleball reference. What do you mean? Do you even play pickleball? Because we love it here, and have a great pickleball family in our community that has united a group of unlikely friends that celebrated a huge Friendsgiving. Those are the kind of people that I want to invite over to my new kitchen for snacks and fun.

Clearly I need to be interviewing my next kitchen designer a bit more thoroughly, because obviously those attitudes show up and I would be appalled if I hired one that espoused your views and then posted a picture of my kitchen as her work that she was sick of.....

I really like the designer @jan moyer here that states " Do the kitchen you love, and the one that works for you. ........your house, and your budget." Isn't that the best idea for all of us? And if it happens to be white mixed with natural wood and gold jewelry, then more power to her.

@HU-918119203 why do people like you always bash what others like. I don't know why you can't just answer the question without all the extra insults and negative criticism. People like different things. Describing it as "fridged cold sterile antiseptic" is just being asinine.

Good grief 2003 ... that was 20 years ago! Have you seen any posts complaining about this in the last 20 years? We built in 2021 and used Marvin (elevate & ultimate) windows . I had to go check my windows, because I never noticed any marking. Yes, they are there and I never noticed the faint markings!

Looks like an obvious issue with the finish. The lineal flakes could be from mishandling as the window is dropped, but the other issues appear to all be finish related.

Why the 8 posts on the subject? Why not just the one post?

Marvin has, in my estimation, always been a good material supplier in terms of honoring warranties.

Your first point of contact would be with the vendor. They should, based on what I see, advocate on your behalf to the manufacturer for remediation and repair. I don't know what YouTube's algorithm or controls are or why that is pertinent here.

Marvin is not perfect and has, in the past manufactured products with flaws. Some based on the materials that they used from 3rd party (i.e. paints) and some from the lineals and other in-house products (i.e. horrible smell from fiberglass lineals).

I don't know of any manufacturer, let alone on that is as large and manufacturers a diverse set of products like Marvin does, without some issues. The question is how do they handle it. To that end, Marvin has always appeared to be completely stand up and honorable.

I would suggest that you focus some of the time and energy that you have here and on YouTube, and call the folks at your vendor and at Marvin until you get the right person to deal with.

I'm now three years with my GE Profile, & think it's a terrific oven. Great baker, roasts well, air fry is nice for a variety of things, has useful conveniences. It has a touch screen, but is easy to use. I was not a touch screen fan before, but some industrial designer really thought this one out well, imo. It's the 7 inch lcd one with picture display.

I realize GE Profile is a pedestrian brand, but Cafe & Monogram are basically the same oven but better styling & a few more software choices.

DeWayne. Yes, but…. It’s so big we cannot use the corner for cabinet space and not big enough for my larger pots, and will need a complete restoration as it’s been heavily used for 55 years. I would gladly donate to anyone wanting it for their mid century masterpiece but functionally is important too.

55 yrs maybe time for a change life moves on .55 yrs ago many people had no DW so a triple sink made sense I aslo agree someone will snag thta in aheart beat on Graigs list or whatever in your part of the country. I have a 1957 MCM ranch house I love it but the kitchen was original and a total useless space for how I use my kitchen . We cook differently, live dirferently and IMO MCM is fabulous but not for functional kitchen design or bathroom design for the 21 st century. .

Use the kitchen as it is, and while using the kitchen over time, keep a list of things you would change or improve. As you compile the list the priorities will become obvious. Some items will be able to done in the near future, some will be able to be done in the more distant future, and some will be done in the next house.

Edit: Some people would kill for a kitchen like that.

First time homeowner tip: Do NOTHING to anything, until 6 months have passed. That kitchen needs nothing at all. If the rest of the house is that good looking, you've snagged a winner.
