Your least expensive solution would be an exterior lift that drops off in the kitchen or the dining room and ties to the deck. Exiting the rear of the garage and through a covered walkway to bring you to the lift. In New Jersey after the hurricane it was mandatory that elevators be installed in the shore communities in the lifted homes. Many people opted for the exterior lifts whether enclosed or not as the cost was significantly less.
Another note, as you do not require the lift at this time (although it is wonderful for garbage and groceries) when it is required you can work it via a prescription to offset the cost.
