Not a shopping cart, but …do not hang your purse on the back of your chair at a restaurant, My friend’s wallet was taken from her open purse.

All I'm saying to everyone, is don't assume that you have outwitted the bad guys. They are pros and know all the tricks that you've never thought of. Better to be constantly alert.

And I'm reminded of the many posts on our local nextdoor.com from people complaining that someone 'broke into' their unlocked car overnight and stole an iPad, money, etc. - and they get really huffy when commenters point out the obvious

Same here. It always amazes me. Can't imagine not locking my house or car.

With Algerian ivy (if that is what you got), you will have a lifetime of trying to remove it.

Wishing you the best of luck. Yours for a lifetime!

As for Vit.C serum, are there different kinds or strengths to look for? I use tretonoin , retinol and a sunscreen from my derm., which I usually follow with a tinted BB cream.

I will ask my derm about the vit, C on my next visit in 3 week…

BTW. I ’ve read that the camera’s eye gives the accurate account…not the mirror. When I care, I will double check in my phone camera…then often make adjustments . Sigh. Usually its to my hair.

PS I am thinking the disposable eye patches would be used for special occasions when I want to look good. Definitely not a daily thing.

Today is my botox consult! Ironically also the day I see my dentist about the crown that partially broke thanks to teeth grinding. I definitely want the botox for the grinding/TMJ but I could be convinced to do a tiny bit around my eyes…curious to see what she recommends.

@Kswl one of the eye masks I looked at contained caffeine, niacinamides, and some other stuff, most of which is in theEmogene eye serum I already use. I think the masks are substantially the same as using eye cream and plastic wrap. 😆 I think I’ll pass.

I did not realize the Emogene eye serum I use also contains bakuchiol!

The PA I saw yesterday had just had microneedling done the day before. Her skin is gorgeous and she does not wear make-up. I meant to ask her about microneedling for me and forgot.

It made me grow a third arm, I just didn’t want to say anything.

Anyway, it’s a bonus. I always need another hand to do things.

Thank you for your post, Lyban. Seeing something other than the huge hole left by your loved one is just a tiny reassurance that your life will still have joy. DH and I were at a poetry reading yesterday and an author read one about that "rogue wave" Annie described so well. It is still such early days for you, keep taking care of your grieving heart.

Spanish, I lean that way too “ Speaking for myself, I am into labels but not logos….But, I have learned that the label may not tell the product truthfully. Whenever the item has been made for the discount market .. in this latest case, I am looking at you Cole Haan and Nordstrom Rack...buyer beware. Loved my C. Haan Grand Court sneakers, so bought a new pair at N.Rack. The inner lining was merely a thin piece of foam that had made the shoes unwearable after a few weeks. Ugh. I‘ve learned , in So many cases, the once upscale brand has been sold strictly for Its name. It feels unlawfully dishonest to me.

That may not be the Cole Haan story, though the family brand was sold awhile ago.

I've always called them tennis shoes instead of sneakers, but then I did wear them to play tennis.

In San Francisco, I would buy Tretorn tennis shoes because they were all white, and I would buy Tretorn tennis balls because they were also white, whereas other tennis balls (in the 1970s) were fluorescent chartreuse or orange, and I wanted my tennis to be all white. I even made my own tennis shorts.

I recently bought some more white leather Tretorn tennis shoes, and I feel that I can wear them all year in Palm Springs - especially since so many people wear golf outfits there.

Forgive me if the story is a repeat, but the evening bag choices reminded me about it.

When my husband’s uncle died, unlike the rest of the family I made sure to greet and chat with people at the viewing, particularly new-to-me people. (I see I still can’t tell this story without judging them.😆) I asked a woman how did she know Uncle? She said they had worked at an ice cream stand 50 + years ago. He was a little older (college-aged) and so kind to her, a farm girl in her first teenage job. He and another coworker bought her a beaded purse for her prom, and she still had the purse! She wanted to pay her respects because he had made such an impression on her.

I thought it was such a lovely story, I made a point to tell my MIL about it. How that lady remembered his kindness, the purse, and even that he drove a black and pink car. My MIL, always one to get caught up in the strangest details, said well actually that was my father’s car. 🙄 Ok, it wasn’t technically his car, but you’re missing the point.

I wish I could see the purse. I hoped she used it for every dressy occasion she ever attended. I wish Uncle knew what an impression he made on her.

Pray for me, I might go bra shopping. I need new jeans, too, so why not really torture myself and shop for both.

I have been buying Old Navy jeans because they are cheap and I expect to continue to change sizes with time. Not all of their denim is thin-- but I have been wearing the "Wow" jeans and I think it is pretty thin. They have a variety of styles from super skinny (pass) to wide leg and a handful of washes. I am not going to tell you they are amazing but they are equal quality to wit and wisdom and NYDJ ime. I only buy them when on sale for less than $20. It would be an inexpensive test, maybe?

I am going to stop buying things specifically for my trip unless I lose a little more weight/inches before mid-may OR I find a great sale. :) I have a stack of returns I need to send out ... hoping to get them boxed up today but I have a huge amount of work-work today and tomorrow. Also, I am only going for 5 days! My personal stylist (niece#4) listed off at least 5 outfits from her head that I "must pack" LOL and that's from her head. She hasn't seen any of my new pieces.

But before I made this decision, I bought the shirt below. It was very inexpensive but final sale and the length may very well be an issue. I am thinking it will work with very high waisted black pants. Crossing fingers (kswl.., this is the closest I could find to your lovely black and white crocheted top which I have been obsessed with!)

This won't prevent me from buying things not for the trip lol ... but I don't really have any general needs until I lose weight. My next trip after NYC will very likely be to Minneapolis and very casual (unless my current project schedule shifts - a slight possibility - in which case, we'll probably go to Santa Fe and CO)

Thank you everyone.❤️ Arcy, sometimes you ARE a horse's patootie, as grandaddy would say. AND… if you knew half her history and what an accomplishment this is , you’d not dare question a marching band down Broadway.

April already! I have a "thing" for books about British women during the war years, and I am in the middle of Westwood, by Stella Gibbons. I like it so far. I am hoarding a Valerie Perrin, of Fresh Water For Flowers fame. It's called Forgotten on Sunday. Have you done that? I know I am going to like it, so I am postponing the pleasure. Too bad I can't do the same thing with cake! I came home from DD1's bookshelf with a shopping bag full of her recommendations. She has a very liberal return policy. It's called "whenever".

I just purchased these surprisingly nice cordless blackout Roman shades at Wa-y-fair for $32. Everything else I ordered in that price range looked like a home ec project. They were very easy to install as well. The pic is from the listing, it's not my house.

I am loving my new end table aka desk in our sitting room. (On the left under the windows.) Solid vintage oak. $75.

(The little stool under the front window was also a deal at $25 a couple of years ago.)

Agree with Ally De and when I highlighted the name it was in black also. It's really annoying to have to open threads to see if anyone has commented.
