Sound guidance (though first published 4-years ago) is timeless.

A rule of thumb that has never failed me? Everything that is touched, whether the door knocker, plumbing fixtures, door or drawer hardware to textiles should feel wonderful; if the budget can swing it.

Thanks for validation on the things we splurged on in our home - the bed, kitchen cabinet remodel, the dining set, sofa, curtains and blinds, including our focal light fixtures. This makes a feel good reading.

Splurge on electric radiant heating under any tile, stone, or concrete floor, any countertop people rest their arms on (island or peninsula), and any outdoor surface you would have to shovel snow from.

So many comments about glass shower doors and cleaning them. Why hasn’t anyone mentioned the tile and grout? I can’t stand grout lines and the mold that build up. We need to remodel our master bathroom (very tiny room) but need ideas that don’t include tile in the shower. Tiled showers are gorgeous but I don’t like the maintenance involved.

People should time how long it takes to squeegee their glass walls, doors. It’s not nearly as long as you think. I can do mine in under a minute.
Also, all the tech additions won’t work in a power outage unless you have a whole house generator.
