Install the hooks into the wall behind the door rather than on the door and make sure you have a door stop that suits.

I used these door stops/ Robe hooks... a twofer.

Command makes some attractive metal hooks now. That’s what I used on the back of my closet door to hold my nightgown and robe. It works great.

Move the railing to the left edge. Replace the door with one that has side lights instead. For now put any plants on the outside of the railing even on the steps.

I’ll try to paint the rest this weekend! I wish I had this factory painted, I think I’m a pretty good painter, but this is surprisingly hard and not very forgiving. It looks fine from a distance though.

The blue stripes are hopefully going to be painted this summer the same color as the rest of the house.

I find the rug and the table cloth just too dark. Rather then get rid of your chairs how about painting them bright pink with the chinoiserie on the seats?

Can you move the dishwasher to the other side of the sink? Will this move make a better work area or is there very little to gain for such a big expense. Are the upper cabinets to the ceiling? Will there be a soffit area above the cabinet to route the new vent location into the old hole? It would be great to see the new proposed layout.

Hi Patricia, the design came from the designers … not cabinet sales person… I don’t have graph measurements. I measured myself ; the shorter wall with the fridge is 104” long, 96” tall and the ‘lip’ sticks out 24”. The long wall where the stove is 166” long. There is enough room (44”) to walk around the island.

That is your prime prep space! i would definitely want more than 24”, so i would move it. it really shouldn’t cost to much and they should be able to cap old one i would think. too bad about dw but at least you are used to it there!

Why was the decking from the landing not taken to the far left wall? What is that space going to be used for? How about a planter in that hole maybe with a bench?

None. If 2 people are at the door, it’s too crowded for them to stand next to each other with the planters there.

Vinyl will be too wide if you do the front window in three separate windows keeping your existing wide dividers HOWEVER if you make it one window by removing the existing dividers and deal with window mullions if you still want three you will gain glass.
