Bkay, I don’t know this as a fact, but I’ll make a guess. Air is a great insulator. Think of puffy down jackets or duvets. Denser quilting would make the quilt flatter and therefore less able to trap more air. Maybe this is what Sharon meant.
That makes sense. Thanks, Lois.

Theresa, no wonder your foot pedal wore out. You have overwhelmed it with your productivity. You’ve shown us what great quilts can be made with scrap strips and squares.
Donna, it’s hard to be unable to sew when you want to. We’ve been back home for about 10 days, and I’d love to be sewing, but between putting everything away and doing yard work, I’ve not gotten to it yet. Soon, I hope. I wish the same for you.
LOL! I was going through the photos on my ipad and discovered I made this quilt once before, two years ago. I have no recollection of doing that. Old age does things to your memory.
I think I have the foot pedal working again, yay!, but my actual right foot needs repair.
The base of my foot , that pad of flesh under the big toe, is inflamed. Now did I overuse my foot on the foot pedal, these past few weeks, or do I have gout?? Dr. isn’t quite sure which it is but I guess I really do have to take a break. A good time to clean up ’the mess’.
Theresa
Theresa, I really like that scrappy pattern. It's on my not so short list of ones to make. Try increasing you water intake, that will help if it is gout.

I like the Hobb's Heirloom 80/20 blend. It's 80% cotton. They also make Hobb's Heirloom 100% cotton which I suspect is comparable to Warm and Natural. Both very good products.
The roll I just ordered is the 80/20 blend. I think that is all I have ever used.
Another thing about wanting a 'warm' quilt is not to have the quilting on it too dense so make sure the batting you buy states how far apart is allowable. May we see some of the quilts you've made? I'm so visual, I have to watch tutorials on how to use special rulers. sigh. Welcome to our forum.
Another great scrappy, Theresa. You are amazingly productive.
That is another great quilt! Good job.
Sue
Another beautiful scrappy! Well done!

Lois, Do you remember the name of that quilt store? My Blue Bamboo? Scraps? Please keep your scraps. LOLOLOL Circles? I was going to go through the plates and saucers in the kitchen cupboards. HaHaHa.
Donna, It's been quite a few years ago when I visited my sister up there. .Probably close to 8 - 10 years. Maybe Lois will remember for sure.
Theresa, Get out those templates and get started. I think the pattern blocks are 9,5" unfinished. OK, I checked. The circle fan parr if the block is 8.5". The white sash is cut at 2" for the right side and bottom with a 2" HST for the end of the fan. The oriental fabric used is supposed to resemble Yin and Yang, Darker: stripes, geometric, plaids are considered male fabric. Female fabric is lighter and more colorful with those large flowers and cranes, Complimenting each other. Go for it girlfriend.
The shop was called Blue Bamboo Their website was mybluebamboo.com as I remember. Sharon, I started quilting in 2011, so your visit was sometime after that. Ten years ago was probably about right. I’m sure I took your photo, but I couldn’t find it. i did find the 2015 photo of Linda (Toolgranny) and me at a shop in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, that unfortunately was destroyed in the fire.
Congratulations on both counts. How exciting. A new house and time to outfit it. Start with the sewing room! 🤣
Wooo Hooooo, hope your house sells quickly and nothing unpredictable happens along the way in getting to your new home. So exciting!
How exciting for you! Welcome to the "every day is a Saturday" club and enjoy your new home!

I remember them fondly. I really enjoyed participating. I have photos of 58 months of lotto blocks that I made from 2011 to 2017. I made one of the Card Trick blocks, but not one of the other ones. I won seven times and made six quilts from the blocks. I combined two months' blocks into one quilt. I donated two, gifted three and still have one. We had quite a few participants in the beginning, but the numbers dwindled by 2017.
Yes, numbers dwindled for all my online groups. Facebook participation ended most of them. It's a shame. They were infinitely more interesting than Facebook.
bkay
Lois, yes the numbers of participants dwindled by 2017. But we did try to keep it going until 2019 when it was decided that Block Lotto had reached its ‘expiration date.’ And in that last year, we did not do an exchange but rather made the suggested block of the month and as the months went by, had enough blocks for our own quilt, in our own colours. The blocks to be made were suggested by Forum members, one per month.
It was an interesting take on the original Block Lotto project.
I was sorry to see the original plan be discontinued but, as you say, participants numbers dwindled and it was a challenge to keep it going.

I hope the freezer has all been cleaned out. Were there any bad odors to deal with? .
And are you back at the machine yet? piecing or quilting?
Yard work all taken care of?
I keep looking out and seeing all sorts of cleanup for me to do, and the weather is beautiful. However, until this foot heals, all I can do is look. Or clean up the sewing tables!
Theresa
Theresa, my husband and I moved the freezer out of the garage, and then he power-washed it. It came out amazingly clean and odor free. He pushed it back into its place, and now he’s busy filling it up again. 🤪
I did get the gardens all cleaned, fertilized and mulched before a day-long, much needed rain yesterday.
I have been working on assembling my star blocks in the evenings, but I haven’t gotten back to the longarm yet. That’s a daytime task, and my days have been too busy. I am heading up to my discount fabric store today. I need some backing yardage and some Sunbrella fabric to cover our screen porch chair cushions.
I hope your foot heals quickly. It’s so frustrating when the mind is willing, but the body won’t cooperate.
Theresa, you’re on a roll. That’s a great idea for a scappy quilt. I can’t wait to see #2.
I've been thinking about this and thought, just maybe, it could be sewn together like the Jelly-Roll Race pattern except using your bricks. Just keep sewing the ends of your bricks together. Hmmmmm, I need to do some cutting...... lol
What a great experience! Your quilting is amazing - and so cool that you could share it with someone!
Sue
I really admire you for quilting under less than ideal conditions. And, now you’re a goodwill ambassador too. How sweet of you to share your knowledge with the next generation of quilters.
The photo of the spinakker taken on deck made me very envious. How I loved to sail! It was always my dream to do exactly what you’re doing - sailing the arc of the Caribbean islands. I did have many sailing adventures though, so I can’t be too jealous.
