I thought I'd also post the soapstone slabs I liked--a completely different look. This is stormy black. I can't helping thinking it "goes" better with the feel of the room but that might be in large part because it isn't shiny. It's hard for me to visualize the quartzite slabs leathered when I only saw them polished. I saw other slabs that were leathered, and I really like the look and the feel of the non-shiny stone, which is one of the main things I like about soapstone.

Hello Rob, what color is your floor? They are exactly what I'm trying to match with my Schuler Cherry Cappuccino Stain cabinets. I am planning to refinish my existing red oak (gunstock) hardwood floors that really show the orange red against my Cappuccino Stain cabinets If you still have ANY of your flooring information, please post?

I do, I do! Mine are Yorktowne but its the same brand under different names. We went with the Maple Biscotti for everything except our island which is Maple Smoke. We are mid renovation so not everything is finished yet

I debated getting the Cherry Cappuchino but my husband did not like the grain in the wood. I agree with him now, the maple is so subtle snd understated. I was also told that the cherry would possibly darken over time.

these photos were taken at night but our kitchen is well lit so i think the biscotti color is accurate. the smoke color is a little purple in the photo but in person more of a deep brown with a hint of gray

Hi Yelena, thanks, we like it too! Countertops and windowsills are soapstone. In the main house, we also did a soapstone backsplash behind the range only. Love! Soapstone is Black Graphite in the main house and Green Graphite in the ADU. Hardware will be matte black, but I haven’t finalized yet. My first choice was wire pulls, but that got nixed by both DH and GC for difficulty of installation and longevity reasons. These pics are in progress and show the countertops.

Buehl's toekick comment got me thinking about the old garden web days and my neighbor down the street who introduced me to this forum. Her name is Jodi_SoCal and she has her toekick drawer photos and info on these two posts from 14 - 16 years ago.

Toekick Step Stool - Have it? Like it?

Anyone have a cabinet to store a step ladder?

I had a Hafale toe kick pull out step stool put in our last home's kitchen. It was a clunky, inconvenient PITA. I ended up never using it and climbing on the counter instead to reach up high. (Stupid yes, I'm part monkey I guess.) Fast forward to our current kitchen and I have a $5 step stool. We keep it in the kitchen corner and use it as our dog's food bowl stand. When I need to reach something I pull it over. Multi-purpose, cheap, sturdy enough.
