I would gently refinish what you can and then maybe stencil or freehand a design to hide the worst. Maybe a compass rose in the center. A dragon, a spilled vase of flower, maybe some Trompe l'oeil .I wish Beth would answer she is the refinishing furniture

I worry that you are considering some things that aren't really suited to your sweet little house. Unless you really want to change the look to something that leans MCM or another totally different style from what it is.

Beth posted a pic of one of these....what would you think of something like this to 'fancy' up the garage area? You could plant something to the right of the post that would climb up and over the top of the walkway and across the garage area.

If you change the garage door, I would leave it the same color as the house; I like how your's kind of disappears...unless you select a natural wood/wood look door.

I was going to say $4,700, you have 62 sq ft @ $75 per sq ft.

I would like to see the rest of the space surrounding the DINING room but it looks like once you decided that was the perfect spot for the banquette everything was off from there. Definitely turn the table and utilize all the space you have... no reason to snug up to one wall. Consider mural wallpaper.

@jck910 might have been talking about this dilemma? https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6418802/dining-wall-dilemma

Though not evergreen one of my favorites is a tri color dappled willow tree.

You could just do dropped molding around the room and follow the wall.

@john3582 exactly. A dropped moulding that hides an LED strip. The problem with that is she wants to create isolated defined spaces. Every time I walk into a house that has less than 8 ft ceilings I detect it immediately and think less of the house.

if I lived in California, Jasmine, Bird of Paradise, so many choices, that don't have needles, honeysuckle. with a trellis? I know we had some ot hose when my dad was stationed in Yuma and 29 Palms

I've reread the post a couple of times and don't see any mention by the OP that this is a rental property. Not that that makes much difference to the fact that cacti are a daft idea.

Hi @floraluk2 - Paul has a related post about using pavers for this walkway. In that post he said his home is a triplex - the two rental units are in the back of the main home. Sorry that my post was confusing - that’s why I said I should’ve posted my thoughts on the pavers on the other thread.
