I have been dealing with my Dad and Mom's stuff they have accumulated over the years. They both kept and bought LOTS of things that should never have been accumulated. I also have that tendency...I can't help it, it's in my genes!

It looks like you might have children and that's always a difficult situation to be organized and tidy in. Bottom line though, looks like you need to act like you are about to move to a new home and donate, sell, throw out anything you don't really need. There is no way anyone can be organized and tidy if there are not enough empty spaces to put away the things you do use regularly. Now for the library look! I agree with the comment above, folks may need to see your floor plan before they can recommend where and how to put book storage/display areas. Without being able to see the rest of your available spaces, I would look for a wall that is long enough, or short enough (depending on how much shelf space you want/need) to convert into full length shelves. If it's done nicely with the proper trim and a quality wood, you can install shelving fully along one wall and that can be your library. If you have a smallish room and lots of books you actually need to keep, do shelves on all or three of the walls. Be sure to make at least some shelves adjustable for extra short or tall books.

That was very general. I don't see any walls in your photo that look conducive for my concept. If that is where you want your books, consider a free-standing, quality book shelf that will hold all of your books, or buy/build matching bookshelves that are taller than the ones you currently have. Yours look too small for your high ceilings.

Since we only have one picture of the room and not much information as to budget or furniture you'll be using, this is only a concept showing ready made bookcases from Ikea.

If you can make your own good quality cabinets then that is the best option.

I would check out kitchen showrooms. We just had a vanity made out of Fabuwood for a hall bathroom.

I honestly don’t remember price.

We’ve bought 2 vanities online in the past. Luckily they came undamaged.

Real furniture may be an option. Just be wary of veneer delaminating in a damp environment. Make sure you have good ventilation fans. Keep looking for old furniture pieces. You will eventually find something you like. Yes, a lot of vanities are garbage. I am happy at my wood vanity from Wayfair that we got in 2018 for around $700, until I look closely and see that the solid wood frames on the doors are made with several of those machine-made jagged joins. On a painted piece, they are smooth enough to be invisible, but my vanity is stained. If you look closely, you can see the joins. It is like my vanity’s solid wood parts are made of scrap wood! They remain invisible at a distance and to the touch, and the vanity performs very well, but I know that somewhere in China there is a lumber manufacturer laughing at the stupid Americans paying him to make scrap wood look good.

I don't know anything about your Basco option so I can't help you there but I will share a post I made a little while back with my experience with two MAAX shower pans. I would carefully examine any MAAX product before accepting....at the very least. I would recommend a different brand. Certainly you are looking at a different component (glass enclosure) but there is a QA problem somewhere in the MAAX shop!

Basco is about the same quality, certainly not any better.

Our eyes/minds are used to certain things. We can't fully focus our attention to EVERY detail so we tend to look for mis-matches. I think that is why random is better.

Is there a picture on the tile companies website showing this tile installed on a floor or wall? That might help

Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate all the replies. Going random was advised the most and it makes sense after considering all the comments above.

Hmm. I'd think seriously about ripping out all the shower tile and replacing it with a solid surface surround in white.

I think you could use the tile you have on your floor if they are suitable material for shower....it's a choice that doesn't add an additional color to your room. If you are able, redo the entire shower area but sounds like you already said that's not in the budget. As an intermediate, can you at least remove another row of tile so your shower tile color transition is at the same height as your color tile row in your tub area? I can't see well enough to tell where the next row of tile in your tub area ends.

We chose to make ours the same width as the mirrors.

With the advent of LED lighting, you don't have to think about heat so much so you can more easily recess lighting. There are a few commercial light fixtures I have seen that I think look good but I'm generally bored with the bathroom lighting sections in lighting sales areas. I haven't done this but I think you could put four smallish recessed or flush-mount LED lights in your space. I think the ones you have planned over the mirrors will be good but won't they cast shadows downward on your face? This might be a new concept but adding a flush-mount (minimalist) light about face height on the right and left side-walls might give you good lighting and not distract from your other designs. Consider using a dimmer so you can adjust the intensity.

Yes, I very much like the Kohler cast iron shower bases. They look good, and you just don't have to worry about them cracking or not being built correctly, as is the case with a built up shower base.
