I've always heard (and there's a reason it's called hearsay), never use anything like steel wool, scouring pads, etc. on cast iron. So, what I use is... kosher salt. It's great to scrub off icky stuff.

Last weekend at a festival, I saw a large gentleman with his pants in a similar configuration. But his underwear was sky blue with white puffy clouds. Not exactly the tough guy image I think he was going for.

I am on car #6, which I’ve had for over 7 years - I’m hoping that doesn’t mean the end is near (for me, not the car!) but in my defense, the first two were beaters that didn’t last very long!
I always make batch crusts and have it in the freezer. Good for quiches etc.
What a presumption. My pastry is neither burnt nor tough. It's frozen unbaked. Once baked it's like freshly made and I know exactly what is in it : flour and butter. That's all.
This is what's in a well known supermarket crust:
INGREDIENTS: Wheat Flour [Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin], Palm Oil, Water, Rapeseed Oil, Concentrated Lemon Juice, Salt, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Inactive Dried Yeast, Flavouring, Emulsifier (Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids), Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid), Colour (Beta-Carotene), Flour Treatment Agent (Ascorbic Acid).
Making extra for the freezer is no more work than making one batch. And it means I can get a top quality fresh baked quiche or pie on the table in 40 minutes.
And I can make them cheaper too....

I just now went through the thread and noticed that you also posted something about a group of animals, eld! It was a total coincidence. I really did laugh out loud when I heard that a group of rattlesnakes is called a rhuma, but I really love that a group of bunnies is called a fluffle.
I just shot down to the bottom of the thread and posted it. That's so weird that we both posted about groups of animals. Or cool?
