The perception of that table scene is so real! We are expecting rain tonight and tomorrow. I hope it’s a good soaker as it’s needed. All my hostas are pipping now. I can’t believe how early it is…..Liberty is already 6-7 inches. Tonight the temperature is supposed to drop to 32 F. I am not too worried as my yard tends to be warmer than the official temperature. But, I will probably cover Liberty as it’s so tall. The only other that’s up tall is Royal Standard so I may cover that as well. Christmas Candy was overwintered in a pot. It survived and because it’s in a pot, I will bring it onto the enclosed porch.
Remodeling is slowly progressing. It took two days to deal with getting the tub out. It was sawed almost in the middle. It was a cast iron tub and was stamped 1929, made by Kohler. It took three men to take each piece out. They estimated that it weighed 500 pounds. Yikes!
Also, I trapped a little cat who’s been seen around the neighborhood. I started feeding him so I could trap him for a neuter. He’s scheduled for Wednesday morning. I intended to trap him tomorrow, but he doesn’t visit each day. When I saw him this morning, I set the trap and got him. No more baby making or fighting for him!!
debra
thanks debra 💕..this morning from the kitchen window..the big trees are still kind of naked but the lower plants are up and running..
" I like to know the size of the pot they are talking about for advertised plants."
Looks like most perennials and vines are sold as quarts or a pot that is approx. 4.5 inches wide and 4-5 inches deep. A pint pot has a 4 inch diameter/width and is slightly less than 4 inches deep.
I have used Superthrive with Miracle gro but not as much as I use MG. I like to use it more in the hot weather. It gives them a pick me up. There is no PNP rating on the bottle I have. That kind of scares me. So. for me not as my #1 fertilizer. I honestly thought the old guy was drinking it himself he was super charged at 93.
Interesting that Dyna Gro was bought out by Superthrive.
As a container grower gardengal, how much of the fertilizer do you use when you water? I've never really understood how much I was supposed to use. Always wanted to ask that question.
I use the maintenance level - 1/2 tsp per gallon of water. Weekly, weakly :-))
lindalana..my standing water is temporary..I’d say my mosquitoes are just “normal”..
Same for me. Most of the water today is already below the level of the grass, so it doesn’t look bad. But it’s very squishy and your feet will get wet if you walk across it now. Sunshine tomorrow, and by Sunday I will be able to mow (if the rain is done 😉. )
I wish that I could just go to the garden center dressed just like I am in the garden.
I have been AFC for a couple of days. (AFC away from keyboard) just kind of hiding in my new chair. But while I am there, I am thinking about all the things I need to do. Makes me need a nap.
I am ready to get going again. Anybody still in the snow can come on down.
My hostas have been going full blast. Some are just piping, and others are starting to fill out nicely. They will all be in the greenhouse soon as I think that this is a hotter sun this year.
I wrote this earlier:
I now have geese. They jump the fence and like something growing in the lawn, Wait let me put that right. I now have geese and have to watch everywhere I walk now. Thanks guys. I liked them better over the fence. Luckly, we know these geese. They have been living out there for about 5-6 years now. They were even swimming around the girl in the lake but had no more information than that "she was quackers".
It rained all day yesterday Wednesday. I took a hand spray bottle out with me and I had fed the hostas on Tuesday, When I got out late yesterday evening I think some of them doubled in size. I am very pleased with this season, so far.
I wrote that yesterday and headed outside. During the last couple of months, I had fallen through both of my outside recliners. I had planned to remake the canvas but right now is not a good time. I bought 2 new ones. I had missed a good friend.
I have to go buy bird seed.
I hope everyone the best day today. Good luck on the sale Pieter and kudos to using a reciprocating saw.
Stay warm and enjoy counting pips.
utog - that container is very pretty! I think most of us need a bigger yard! 😁
Jade Cascade with Dark Star and Regal Splendor for first 2, ferns unfurling with azalea, and First Dance with Luna Moth.
Hmm, no active website for me
I also did not find Green Mountain either. They still owe me money.
