Honestly, your cabinets seem fine with countertops, floors, and pale gray wall color. You would make a huge impact if you changed your island pendant, "boob" ceiling light, and possibly your dining set, and counter stools, which are too fussy for the cabinets.

Please read my instructions again for posting a Design Dilemma. PLEASE SHOW DINING SET SIDE. WE NEED TO SEE ALL FOUR SIDES!!!! I have a feeling the dining set, plus the lighting, is making the room seem fussy and not well lit. (Pay attention to what Patricia Colwell said about lightbulbs.)

Notice how bright and clean looking this kitchen is--same palette as yours but open and airier.

Notice pendant over light wood table:

Yeah, kind of out there for your style, but what comfortable chairs, great light wood table, interesting light. Again, we don't know the rest of the space, so this might not work. This is why you need to SHOW ALL FOUR SIDES OF THE SPACE.

Your 20 year old maple cabinets are now in style again. I can certainly understand the desire for a change, but you should consider the whole room, not just the cabinets. Even if you cannot afford to do everything now, do consider what others are saying about the order in which you make changes or you will back yourself into a corner. Instead of saving money and doing things piece by piece, you could end up with good money slowly spent on what turns out to be a hodge podge re-do.

Unless you have a very high end professional cabinet painter (not house painter), the paint job will not last long and will chip fast. How much were you quoted and what was the process they described for painting? A good paint job that will last could cost as much as new cabinets or new counters.

What is your current budget for this phase of your kitchen redo? I'd save up and keep your cabinets as they are and put in a new floor, solid surface counters (think Corian - they are not very expensive) and update your faucet, boob light, hanging light, and table and chair set.

As Kendrah mentioned wood cabinets are now back in style. Instead of painting would you consider replacing the countertop and backsplash? I've put a few ideas together below of different things you could do depending on your kitchen (we can't see the entire room) such as modifying your island, replacing hardware and lighting, etc...

No to painting the brick! Here's a mock up. I would also add some brick along the pathway.

Since you are keeping flooring, work with it. Try SW Creamy for walls. Then you can use a beautiful stone for your countertops. I love Taj Mahal. It can go cool or warm. Just have to hunt a bit for the perfect slabs. Try using Allinonepaint for your cabinets. A taupe color with brushed gold hardware would make a striking but calm color palette. I will put an Idea board together for you. Bbl

Are you furnishing the house from scratch to live there yourself? Do you have a budget range in mind?

Settling on a paint color in advance can save time but it means that the upholstered furniture has to coordinate with the walls rather than vice versa. Paint color trends have changed to much lighter shades in the last few years. Have you considered priming the walls in white, selecting new upholstered pieces, and then finalizing your paint choice?

Macademia paint colour is more or less the same colour as what it now on the walls. I would opt for BM Simply White which is a nice warm white and it's neutral especially if you're painting before buying your furniture. You also mention the same flooring as the rest of the house is under the carpet that you're removing, it seems dark so Simply White would certainly brighten the room and also make the stone fireplace stand out. Here's the look showing a navy blue leather sofa...

I agree that it looks wonderful the way it is. Here's an alternative for shutters and trim, but honestly I don't thing you need to change anything. Also, you have the black fence--one change begets another!

This house in in New Oreleans so IMO it suits where you are. I have to say I do not love the brown wood door but I aslo would not bother changing anything . Price fairly and move on

Red. Deep barn red. The white will pop and it will look so good at Christmas, Fourth of July with red , white, and blue, in snow, with the autumn trees and pumpkins , etc.

No TV on fireplace. Find a beautiful vertical skyscape, modern or traditional, to hang there. A tall ceiling like that can take a dramatic, large pendant as well. This room has a feeling to go for. That blue wall has to go--no accent wall, just light airy wall paint.

That room needs a large rug to create some living level interest. The rug should echo whatever your art work is, furnishings, etc. Creamy white walls with the tall vertical painting and an interesting rug would make the room very dynamic,

I love your space and your new house. I agree finding a solution for that vast space will go a long way to making it feel better.

If it were my house. I would put a fake window exactly like the real windows. A framed fake window that is really just hung on the wall. So it would look like there are 3 windows. Am I seeing window blinds on the windows? I would get a 3rd exactly the same to create the illusion of 3 windows.

Looking forward to seeing this beautiful space come together.

I just did a Google Lens search and there appear to be a few sellers of the wall hanging. This is just one.

Okay, so I would recommend painting & planting AFTER the pool is done, or at least almost done.

you cant put in a pool and landscaping at the same time. the pool building process will destroy everything else in your yard.

I would add a few very large planters so you could add some small trees and lush flowers

eta - water feature would be nice as well - we added one in our backyard and it brings so many birds, it’s super lovely sit and watch them

Paint the interior of your front door, get a new, longer runner rug, and you won't even notice the difference in panels.

No shelves. Consider an upholstered dining bench, a modern oval or rectangular table with wood finish like your cabinets to echo those, or oval white tulip table.

You have an accent wall that already breaks up the visual flow. There are lots of structural features on the fireplace wall--windows, alcove bar setup; fireplace.

what exactly is the problem with existing cabs. If you dont want to replace them for drawers and updated better storage I would leave them. Hardware/ new backsplash / and a lighting plan would be sufficient if I chose not to replace the cabinetry. spend the lions share on your flooring upgrade throughout as that is a bigger deal with nicer return for the present and future. I would lean into a hardwood floor but look over the product selections. Good Luck.

Do not rip out beautiful hardwood floors for LVP. Huge downgrade. Spend that money instead of re-sanding and re-finishing what you have -- you can pick any color stain you want.

Agree the roof color will factor in. If it’s gray, a color that blends with the gray mortar could work.
