Your comment about the teak is so interesting, @Lars, because one of things I detest about most MCM houses is the grainy plywood used for every surface. For MCM enthusiasts (which I’m not), I think the teak paneling is a step up from the original plywood.

@sushipup2, HERE is a LINK to pictures if you would like to avoid the video.

Even though ignitions are electric, on my gas ranges you can still also light them with a match.

I have to admit that this is the main reason why we are keeping our gas range. The oven doesn't work if there's no electricity, but the burners are fine. We don't normally have too many power outages but during a 3-day outage, we were able to stay here. We have rechargeable Coleman lanterns for some light. Small chargers for our phones, and we make sure to keep these charged up during hurricane season. We have gas logs and a gas hot water heater. With those, and the burners so that we could cook, we were fine. We did empty the freezer--our neighbor kids were happy to have ice cream for breakfast. We shared or cooked all the frozen vegetables, and we keep a lot of ice packs in our freezer so that we can use the refrigerator as a big cooler when there's no power. We don't keep a lot in the freezer anyway, for this same reason. I know all the arguments and reasons why induction is better, but I just don't want to have to rely on that electric line for everything in the house.

Hey, HU-787167202, or can I call you "HU"?

We generally refrain from posts with your tone. And we generally chose a name so that people can learn who we are. Though of course if that type of post is all you have to add, maybe you prefer anonymity.
