You have a beautiful home. This was my cottage, I painted the doors red, and the trim black, put black shutters too. I loved it so much. Never, EVER tired of it.

Your front entry is very welcoming, and when those flowers fill in a bit and bloom, it's going to be beautiful. First thing I thought was the downspouts need to disappear. I'd paint them the color of the brick.

Thank you for the updated photos!

Looks very nice, however, I believe you may have planted the shrubs too close to the house. You need to know the final width of the shrub, divide by 2, add 1 foot and that should be the distance from the house. If a shrubs final width is 6 feet, it should be 4 feet from the house. So you can get behind it and do maintenance to the house, prune the shrub, etc.

Paints the walls a darker color; consider putting floating shelves (dark chocolate) on the wall by your window. This means taking the decorative plates down and placing artwork , plates on shelves. I would change the island cabinet color to match shelving.

Suzanne, Your advice and photo of the 3 framed art pieces above the fireplace on your Aug 24, 2014 post, really "spoke" to me, as they say. I absolutely love it and hope you don't mind if we do something similar. It was just the sort of thing I have been looking for. But having no decorating talent, I needed to keep looking until something struck me as just right. My husband and I both love it! I think this is the link, so you'll know which of your great ideas we loved. Thanks so much.

From the photo you still have the option to paint the sloping part of the wall the same colour leaving the flat ceiling as it is, I'd paint the sloping section and stand back and decide if you like the look of it, here is a render of the photo to help make a choice... Good Luck...

Hi Sarah...you've had loads of feedback...i haven't read all of it so sorry if i'm repeating what has already been said. You've definitely had a lot of good advice already.
My quick advice would be not to add another colour i.e sage green, it will look too fussy and busy with the wallpaper as well, because the print of that is busy.
I would also say its fun to play with scale a bit, you could do this here by adding a large oversized mirror for example.
Ive recently written a blog post about the first 7 things you need to know and be aware about when designing to make the whole process easier,. https://designjuiceblog.wordpress.com/

P.S. My over-the-sink kitchen window has a simple, cream colored valance that adds softness while blending nicely with my French vanilla cabinets. You could do the same for a subtle elegant effect--or add color!

my dining space s against a wall- so I will have quite a deep bench outfitted with sheep skins and cushions for a cozy feel whre dining guests can lean back and get comfy during a long meal...on the other side of the table I will have two chairs. Some people may not enly a dinner where they cannot get comfy and lean back into a chair /against a wall...just a thought :)

Remove half the chairs, go a bit more daring on the new ones, get a proper table lamp (or just remove that dinky thing), and paint the backs of the bookcases navy blue:

That BM Van Cortland Blue is beautiful and looks perfect for this space. But I would keep just a touch of red to counterbalance it. Maybe keep the red cabinet by the stove.

Do flea market chairs in a darker blue (instead of the red shown below):

The two prints in the first photo of bedding are exactly the same. Was that your intent? I like the idea of yellow prints, but I'd look for something more original, and for sure I wouldn't repeat the same image over the bed.

I'm a split vote. If you're Mary Boone, the infamous NYC art dealer, she would have a strict rule that you could not break. Every waste basket in her gallery could only be used to throw away crumpled up pure white paper. Nothing else could be thrown out in the waste baskets, no colored paper of any kind nor any other trash of any kind. So if this were the rules, sure, I would have no problem having a waste basket next to your bed.

... but Mary Boone is insane. As a real world person I say no waste baskets should be next to your bed. If you have a desk in your bedroom and you don't throw away perishables, then I'm fine with a waste basket being next to your desk. A waste basket next to your bed just looks unsanitary, even if it isn't. Find a different solution to the problem.

I actually like the second blue; it looks more teal than blue. You don't show it next to the oak, though, and I suspect it might not looks so good there. Blue is a difficult color and it tends to make oak look awful. Tan will be a safer choice.

The Lepus's Night The cast in that film were all A-listers! The odd thing is that in certain areas, the small game population is really out of control due to humans shooting too many coyotes in the mistaken belief that they are helping! Humm. That's a scary concept..... lol. My DVDs are fiercely guarded from the grandkids. Excellent work!! :D

Two of the patterned ones almost look like they could work with the C&B curtains. You would definitely want to compare in person. Again, doesn't have to be an exact match - just the same undertones.
