The bedrooms are plenty big to put a desk in the room, and make the closets bigger. When the kids are no longer home, the desks will be unnecessary, but you can always find a use for closet space.

Agree about having just one sink in the shared bath. I see minimal storage space in all the bathrooms.

3'-0" doors are wide enough for a wheelchair and, except for entries, are uncommon in houses that aren't accessible. 2'-6" doors are standard and wide enough for everything else, including moving furniture and even king-size mattresses. Bathroom doors can usually be even narrower. Obviously wider doors can be used where necessary or desired, but they aren't standard.

A payment schedule based on commencement of activities is more typical for remodeling projects where the timeframes are shorter than is typical for new home construction. Lenders prefer for payment schedules to align with costs incurred so they're not advancing more than the cost of completed work. Most lenders will hold back 5% of the loan amount until a certificate of occupancy is issued. It's not sufficient protection for an owner if they haven't selected the right builder, but it puts more of the builder's earnings at risk than a flat $5,000.

@Design2 girl, aw, thanks so much! I loved doing this project and owe a lot of thanks to the Houzz community. The end results were worth all the planning.

@grewa002, wow, thanks! That is high praise considering all the beautiful renovations we have seen on Houzz over the years. I wouldn't change a thing. Everything functions so well and my kitchen and renovated space makes me smile every day. We love love love the micro drawer. It is easy to use, stays out of the way and I find it very easy to clean. AND I don't miss it on the counter. In the previous kitchen, I would lug that thing into the laundry room whenever I was entertaining so I had more counter space. Nope, don't miss it one bit!
