I have a few lighter colors in MZ Wallace and my sister has one of the older pale pinks in the exact style above-- she travels with it a fair amount and it is still looking great. It IS washable which helps, i think.
Mtn.. I agree, I need that sweater!
And Rubyclaire, I love how you think-- that was exactly my thought, I need the magnet for fall and the mushroom for spring summer! I'd have to travel a bit more to justify that but I think that is my plan.
I was concerned that the magnet was too close to but not the black in the trim. I really don't want a black bag. Glad many of you think the magnet is fine too.
PS.. I also think I need a second crossbody sling in the mushroom color. It wasn't available when I got mine. :(
I’m another one who likes Nikol’s hair. But I’m southern and we all know:
In remembrance of the great Dickey Betts, co-founder and guitarist with the Allman Brothers Band. He died this week at the age of 80.
The song Melissa by the Allman Brothers is about a man who regrets his choices and longs for his true love, Melissa.
Vitamin c serum, retinol (and of course sunscreen)
When you start a retin A/ Trentinion it takes baby steps…one one day a week if no irritation twice a week..and so on..at first you will have some reddness or a bit of peeling that means time to back off….eventually you will tolerate it on a regular basis….it really takes time…but so worth it…I like mixing it together with my CeraVe.
bbstx, I use bakuchiol, as does 31yo daughter. I like it as does dd. I have type 1 rosacea but I was determined to use a retinoid. Dermo rx'd the lowest dose retin-a, advising that it could worsen rosacea or help it. Total coin flip as to outcome as dermo considered my rosacea the most awful she had seen : ( Anyhow, I used a few tubes of it, but getting it filled at a reasonable price using good rx and the like really put me off to it. It was a lot of hassle for some reason.
I now use Avene or Natrium retinal (whichever one is having a 30% off sale) in its place to cut the frustration out of my life. It was a hard start tbh, but I use a lot of non-actives, like Eucerin in the jar, or Cerave in the jar or the PM version, Cetaphil in the jar, you get the idea, and that really helos. My use plan is a sandwich method. Moisturizer/serums let set, then thin layer of retinal, then more heavy cream on top. It's a lot, but my skin is improved and less reactive. I can still flare but the quality of my skin is better doing this. So, I landed in the retinoids helps with skin thickness and quality camp even having type 1 rosacea. But, it was a journey and putting up with flakies. I got over that hump by upping my use of heavy non-scented creams faithfully.
Dd can not use even the lowest dose retinol otc. Not at all. I bought her some bakuchiol to use in it's place since she has a very expressive face and has lines a 31yo should not have yet. She loves it and is faithful to using it nightly. She found what works for her is to wash off her make up at night, apply her bakuchiol cream and does not wash her face in the morning. She doesn't apply more cream before morning make-up thinking she still has last night's application still on. It works for her.
We were both using a bakuchiol serum by Boots from England that was super affordable and effective, available from Target online, but it's since MIA. Dd found Eminence Bakuchiol + Niacinamide cream (pricey) through her esthitician. She bought me a jar too. We both like it, but I can not find out what percent of bakuchiol it has, sadly, so can't vouch that it has a good amount or not. But, dd's skin has never looked better. That I can vouch for. I'm very impressed by her results. It is purple and smells like blueberries, btw. Not sure if this is colorant and frangrance or ingredients. But I have no reaction to it, which is rare with colors or fragrance.
Last week she got botox in her forehead to try and cut down on the deep wrinkles she has. Already she has noticable improvement--as in smooth forehead. Amazing.
PS I also had three rounds of V-beam laser a couple years ago for the rosacea. It helped. Dermo was not pleased that I had so much visable redness and veins even after three rounds, but mine is a horrible case of it. The effects of it are temporary and I'm due for more treatments. I am going to hold off though as dermo has to use highest setting to have any effect on my rosacea and it leaves visable dents in my cheeks that last several days and I had an unusual side-effect of enlarged pores from the treatments. I never had a visable pore before the treatments, so...I am leaning towards no more laser for me.
Hope that helps some.
Your projects are so fun! Plus, I have a vested interest since I hope to get my DH down to SA one of these days …. and we’ll stay in one of your rentals. :)
I’m partial to the smallest cottage. We just need a cute place to sleep and shower. :D
Bears roam in our neighborhood along with mointain lions. The bears tend to leave more evidence they were here, such as the trash can activity roxanna mentioned. They’ll also leave large ”deposits” in our yard or driveway.
This bear was tranquilized by animal control in our daughter’s neighborhood…
…and a mountain lion in one of our neighbor’s trees.
We’re in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills in Southern CA.
Someone nearby took this pic of a coyote in her backyard. It’s one of the better shots I’ve seen of a coyote. They usually look much more ”scraggly.”
We were aware of the wildlife in our woods when we first bought our property in upstate PA. We've encountered bears, foxes, bobcats, owls, hawks, coyotes, lots of snakes (rattlers, black, garter , copperheads), possums etc. I'd love to put out bird feeders if I could find one that was bear proof.
But the only damage has been minor. The porcupine chewed on the deck railing and the aluminum capping on the patio door and the bears love to swat the landscape lights. We've had more damage caused by invasive insects - the spongy moth (formerly gypsy moth), the wooly adelgid.
This photo is from last fall when a mother cub and her 3 little ones walked through our back yard.
I came here in 1999. Joann_fla was my original name I think or very close to it. Have you been to the http://ktgatheringplace.weebly.com/ ? It has a lot of our stored information.
A little bit of lepoard is always ”in”! Enjoy your trip!
I love leopard and always have. Like my tortoise fetish, it involves tans browns and blacks, my favorite colors. And any pattern that occurs in nature seems like a neutral/classic to me.
I do not care for alternate colorways, and it has to be done well/artfully,
However, growing up my BFF's mom was a rather over-the-top flamboyant person. She loved loved animal prints. It was the source of much eye-rolling and adolescent giggling. So sometimes I do worry I am turning into my BFF's Mom.
I love my leopard print Rothy points! They are several years old and I’m still wearing mine. Rothy’s is still showing animal print shoes, albeit in a bit more flamboyant print than mine.
My other animal prints are navy and cream giraffe point flats from Rothy and snake-skin driving mocs from Talbots. I have to be careful with the driving mocs. If there is too much contrast with the rest of my outfit, I look like a 70 year old lounge lizard in a double knit leisure suit. I really haven’t worn them much since I got that image stuck in my head.
Side note, mtn: what is your fave european city?
Oh, i hear you. On one hand DH is always saying "who knows how much longer they will want to travel with us," let's take them and OTOH I am like "Wow, this is so easy with two people. Neither of us moody either!" 🙄
Hope your trip to Geneva and Venice is delightful! We expect your usual fine reportage upon your return.
The designer I used is affiliated with Phoebe Howard, and so the sofa and chairs are from Mr. and Mrs. Howard for Sherrill. The coffee table is from Made Goods, as are the bedside tables. I can’t remember the fabrics for the curtains (I can look up) but the tape trim on the bedroom curtains is Scalamandre. The rugs are by Antrim.
Super happy with it all.
edit: white curtain fabric is Pindler.

I don‘t like breast pockets with buttons so I pick black.
I prefer the black - it looks a bit more elegant and sleek.
Learning for the first time, 3katz. I’m not an athelete and have a tremendous capacity for being in a plateau :) adding… and an interest in skorts!
The long strap converts to backpack straps.
Even for people who dont like backpacks, id see this as a big plus for travel
