I clearly understood floral's meaning as well.

Some folks seem to make a sport of finding offense where none was intended.

News briefing going on now says 2 people rescued, one of those taken to the hospital and searching for 6 people. All 8 are believed to be part of a construction crew working on the bridge. No cars were believed to be on the bridge at near 1:30 this morning. They also confirmed that the ship that struck the bridge issued a mayday call prior to striking the bridge overnight. Looking at the ship == all those rectangles stacked on the deck are containers put on rail cars or 18 wheelers -- can only imagine the size and weight of that thing!

Adding -- they have video of the collapse. Incredible, but also reassuring that they can view that and see whether cars were on the bridge. I haven't heard whether thay had time to stop traffic between the mayday call and the collapse, but one speaker said the mayday said they saved lives. Sounds like they did stop traffic -- wonder if they did not have time to get the construction crew off the bridge or if that was in process.

There is a slow-mo video in this link showing the freighter going dark just before hitting the bridge. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/03/26/photos-video-baltimore-bridge-francis-scott-key/73102504007/

I hope everyone is found safe. What a trajedy for all.

I think some people should move to the U.K.

They disclosed that she was having surgery. At that point people should have respected her need to recover and recuperate. It is not a right of the public to know anything more.

I absolutely understand why she would want to keep her diagnosis private, wrap her own head around the diagnosis and help her children understand what is happening without the interference of the world.

I remember the day the doctors told me I had cancer. I wasn't famous, but I didn't want the world to know until I had a chance to digest the news.

What is wrong with people that they don't understand why she wouldn't just run to tell the world that she was diagnosed with cancer. Just be open and honest and tell everyone your most private, incredibly emotional, terrifying business when you haven't even gotten chance to deal with it yourself.

I think those who have demanded information or criticized her for not being more forthcoming should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe if they ever hear the word "cancer" come out of their doctor's mouth they will change their tune.

I remember a time when I looked for any airline BUT Southwest, but I caved and now really like it.

I always offer to give up my seat if someone wants to sit by someone if I am by myself on Southwest. I do see, if you are long-legged and a big guy wanting to keep your aisle seat.

If I could sleep like that on a flight I wouldn't care where I was seated!

IKR! Once on a trip to Europe (in economy class), a young girl near me did that and I thought clever! But I’m long waisted and short legged and it did not work for me.

Unfortunately I think our ready access to technology today means that children (and even adults) are not learning to sit still and just be quiet. I distinctly remember my parents having to teach me this skill as a child (quietly listening and behaving without being given something to keep me busy).

I find myself less capable at this than I once was. I still can do it, but the natural duration has decreased from where I was prior to technologies (phones, tablets, etc) because I so readily have a device to distact/entertain myself if I'm not interested in what is going around me. I can't even imagine how it is for children who may never have had to do this because parents choose to provide the distraction device (ipad, phone, etc) immediately in any situation where they think the child may not naturally sit quietly.

I also believe that in general our society is losing the ability to be considerate of one another. I feel like we see this every day. It feels like it has gotten far worse since 2020. (Think about the increasing reports of roudiness and aggression on airplanes, etc.) I hope we can all strive to do better.

As far as getting up for the bathroom, I always try to get an aisle seat for everything because I do have some digestive issues and it's possible something could require me to get up. Always try to get airplane aisle seat, lecture hall aisle seat, etc. And at events I certainly try to wait until a nice break, though that's not always an option if there are no breaks or intermissions. I hate walking in front of people or asking them to move. I try to arrive early for open seating things (like company presentations) so that I can snag an aisle seat, hopefully closer to the exit, to avoid disrupting other people if I need to use the bathroom.

To me, for some reason, fallen stockings didn't come to mind in those pics. I thought it was "tulle" and thought it was kind of cute-for younger gals.

Judi, thats great for those who can do it themselves but we need our gardener to do it.

Our town has changed regulations which has helped, but we need the industrial blowers in my town.

(((Lyban))) I’m so sorry for your loss. My heart hurts for you.

I also lost my DH after a long and brutal cancer (his second one) and BMT. Since he’d survived the first cancer, I was optimistic he’d survive it again.

His death was a shock I was not prepared for. I felt like someone pushed me out of a plane with no parachute.

I know the searing pain you’re feeling and wish with all my heart I could make it better.

We all have different grief journeys, but what helped me in those early days was finding an online support group to connect with others who were also newly widowed.

I needed to connect with those who were in the same timeframe as me, who understood the chaos of my mind as I tried to cope. We went through awful timelines and ”firsts” together. We kept each other as sane as possible. We did a lot of crying together, but also sometimes succeeded in making each other laugh through our tears, even if just for a second.

I could get online at 2:30 am and find someone else not able to sleep. It was comforting.

In those early soul crushing weeks and months, I was not able to accept that he was gone. I circled through stages of gut-wrenching pain, anger, numbness, intense fear and panic (had my first ever and very terrifying panic attacks), pleading to the universe to bring him back, not being able to eat or sleep, sometimes being taken to my knees with the overwhelming pain.

I had to try to survive it second by second. Reminding myself to breathe. Then I progressed to minute by minute, then hour by hour, then days, and then months.

Later on, it helped me to connect with widowed people who were years ahead of me. It gave me hope that I could somehow survive what felt like my world ending.

Try not to look too far ahead, it’ll only be overwhelming — try to get through each moment being as kind and gentle with yourself as you can. Staying hydrated is so important, and eating whatever you can to keep your strength.

I’m glad you reached out here and hope it helps to see the support. You are very brave and we’re here for you. ❤️

i was just asking what you were envisioning. I havent yet embraced faux leather for jackets.

I really dont think that stule will work with the jumpsuit-- and more so, leather isnt likely to work in late May.

I do keep an eye out for a leather jacket (I have one now) but I won't invest in one while I am losing weight (though I have been tempted).

Yes, they give sample pots. I always try a sample of a foundation first before buying, unless its from Ulta-where you can return if you don't like it. Although, our Ulta doesn't carry Chanel. And, I don't wear Chanel currently. I have learned with experience in years past, not to buy a foundation with sunscreen as they never look the best. I always buy sunscreen separate and put it on a few mins before foundation, allowing it to sink in.

Sample(s)...as in, they make you a sample of a foundation you are interested in at the counter and they put it in a small plastic container to take home and try. Just in case and next time you will know-they have always been happy to do that for me-even though most of the time they ask me if I'd like them to make me a sample to take with me.

I tried several Jones Road products also and they were just too weird and sticky for me. I liked the colors but the formulation needs work.

I actually like the Jones Rd foundation. The miracle balm or whatever it’s called does feel a bit sticky so if I use it, I use a tiny amount. The container will last until I’m 90, I think. I like the pencil concealer too, for sun spots, but doubt it would work well for, say, under eyes.

I have an new off-white sherpa 3/4 zip still hanging in my closet with tags on it. I look at it in my closet, and really like it-but now...I think it's an early spring here, so it will have to wait until next year. Unless, we go to Colorado or similar real soon.

I got this sweatshirt for $19 at Old Navy and ended up getting a second one too. Great for spring/summer as it is not as heavy as some other sweatshirts. It runs big.

I wondered about that style sue-- glad to know you like it. Is it very oversized?

I have been living in this old navy sweatshirt (in fact, I am wearing it now). I went down a size and probably could have gone down 2 sizes.

Personally, that is an ugly pair of GG. Also, they look better with tan feet/legs.

Sue, I didn't love the sneakers but I did like the look of the setting! Swivel stools, raised foot rest--it all says vintage style diner to me. DH and I used to do road trips to iconic diners.
