The Spanish style kitchen was the most appealing to me ,it just oozed a happy vibe .

Number 2 is delightful. It’s so different and colorful from anything I’ve seen
A very happy kitchen!

I’m confused why there has to be a hamper IN the laundry room. Are there that many people who walk their dirty clothes there every time they change clothes? I can’t think of a single family member or friend who doesn’t have a hamper in their bedroom/ bedroom closet/ bathroom for dirty laundry. Each child has a hamper also. I have a small laundry basket in our laundry room for hand towels/ miscellaneous household wash items, but I do not understand why space HAS to be created for a hamper 🤷🏻‍♀️

That red laundry room… It’s just so pretty, I would put a reading chair there, got a cat, and it would be my favourite spot :)

When I saw the title, my immediate thought was that most important thing is to have an actual laundry room, because I am not lucky enough to have one. Like a lot of people I have a closet that fits a full-size washer and dryer and a side cart. I would never go with anything but a top-load washer. The top of the washer and dryer are just fine for folding clothes. I looked a long time and found a three-bag rolling laundry cart with an extendable top rod should I want it to hang clothes on hangers. This rolls easily from the bedroom closet to the hallway on laundry day, and having it where I change clothes is much more convenient than having laundry baskets stored separately in a laundry room, and having to collect clothes daily to take into a laundry room. For hang drying clothes, I utilize a standing drying rack in a bedroom adjacent to the laundry that also serves other functions like a pantry space, storage for an ironing board, and other utility room functions. There’s also a bathroom in that same hall that I can use for hand washables, so I’ve been able to incorporate many of the functions of having a laundry room by making spaces multipurpose.

I also agree with removal and spray from a garden hose. A light scrub with a soft bristle brush helps also. I remove my screens during the winter months and store.

I use a car wash brush on a long handle to do my outside windows in my rancher n/b home.

The polluting of oceans with micro fibers is caused from wearing of microfiber clothing in the ocean. I guess it could be caused by microfiber cleaning cloths if you dispose of them in the ocean, but I don’t do that so I think I’ll keep mine.

Such a lovely, home, filled with 'happy' colour. I was sure this was going to be 'too much' for me when I saw the first photos, just because I found the colours so intense and high contrast (that yellow lining the bookcases almost hurts me to look at). However, while still very colourful, the kitchen and bedrooms are more subtle (IMO) and really appeal to me. Makes me long to add more colour to my home....

So lovely! The kitchen has to be my favorite I think. It keeps some of the original Spanish style character.

I didn't think color has to mean neon... I love color, but I find some of these pics just much too bright.

What I don't see mentioned here but shown in all the photos is that the color intensity needs to be equal. For example, if the orange is slightly muted or tinted, then the blue should be the same mute or tint, etc.

How in the h____ do you sit up in bed and read a book with those spikey knobs on the Spanish doors poking out? It's counter intuitive to use these doors as a headboard.

This entire house feels more editorial and staged than a warm, real space to come home to. Seriously.

Custom this, custom that. 4700 sq ft in mid-Manhattan. 5 kids. Welcome to the 1 Percent Hippie Playhouse. But I may steal an idea or two. Like Robin Hood.

Very well designed kitchen with a tight work triangle. Love the round table!

Kathleen...good point.. I probably would have reversed the marble and wood..so I could have work/prep areas right next to the stove...I hate having to move my prepped veg what ever across a floor..always drop or spill something. We have a rolling island with a maple butcher top and it is used constantly..still holding up. Where would you put things to be thawed? Sink? Plus I hand wash my pots and pans and a drain board and drying rack is always there next to the sink.

The total area is lovely and serene ..I am a proponent of color though.

@Kathleen V I have wood countertops myself. I reseal them about every 5 years and they have held up well since 2002.

Take it outside and put it on your driveway and make up a solution of Dawn and brush it on with a broom, using the broom to really clean dirt spots.

Do not use fabric softeners which are either silicone but most often animal fats. Which means they are oily and will attract more dirt. Let it dry by flopping it over a deck railing or an out door table.
Poly will be washable and most backings, if there are any, should be ok even if they are cotton because the poly will keep them stretched. I also clean oriental rugs this way, but they must be vegetable dyed or they will run badly.

Thank you for continuing to illustrate how our mown grass lawns can be transformed into beautifully sustainable gardens. The more photos I see, the clearer my plan becomes to begin this in parts of my own yard.

Love this bathroom! Particularly like the bold pattern and color. Seems to be functional too with cabinets etc.!

Not sure about the marble lip continuing on around to the window. I could imagine bashing my elbow on it right away! Like it as a small shelf in the rest of the area...just not under the window...it is a tight space. I can see it is part of the sill..hum? What to do? Seems awkward.

Logan, most people aren't into high maintenance gardening that shearing entails. There's cleanup and disposal also. When I see sheared shrubs I can't help but notice that they either need shearing, or they just have that fresh cut sheared look. Think work. In tight quarters, a lot of shrubs chosen would need timely shearing several times a year. Not my cup of tea,....and I'm 'into' gardening.
