And here I've been experimenting with smart lights so I don't have to even go near the lamp to turn it on or off. It sounds like a diva to me.

I believe animals know when someone has saved them and can become very devoted because of that.

Our cats are rescues. They are totally attached! My husband reports that while I slept with the puppy last night, Aspen the cat curled around his neck. 🐾

As you're scanning the online profiles, look for a beached whale. He's been the best!!

And I know his toenails are a little long. We need a vet visit for that.

I know that you won't do this but I want to add one of my pet peeves is when there is an "artsy" closeup photo of some random decor. Why?

Fingers crossed for a quick and painless sale!

I'm talking about pictures of the owner's decor. Close-ups of the details of the crown or other things that are part of the sale are fine. A soft photo of a table vignette is not.

Hi, I did pick up my new wheels a little more than a week now and it has already amassed more than 500 miles even with a super busy work week. Had to spend the weekend cleaning out the garage so I could fit two vehicles in there. Boy did we have a lot of stuff in there that’s just been sitting for years taking up valuable parking space. Facebook market place worked out great for giving it all away since we are not on a street where you can just put it out on the curb. Here’s a few pics of my new ”Lady friend."

Your comment about the teak is so interesting, @Lars, because one of things I detest about most MCM houses is the grainy plywood used for every surface. For MCM enthusiasts (which I’m not), I think the teak paneling is a step up from the original plywood.

@sushipup2, HERE is a LINK to pictures if you would like to avoid the video.

I don't even read articles with click-bait titles like that -- reading some responses here is enough. Yes, prices have gone up because demand has gone up (shocker!), and because individuals are priced out by corporations and private equity firms (sad, but reality).

The housing situation is kind of backfiring in a lot of high-demand, high-priced locations: They're unable to find people to take low- and middle-earning jobs because appropriate housing can't be found. I was listening to a podcast about Aspen schools building tiny houses in order to attract teachers to their city, who otherwise couldn't afford to live there (and it mentioned other towns doing similar things). That's bad in a whole lot of ways.

I think what happens is that journalists are disproportionately from the coasts and see this problem in their own families. Hence they overstate the case.

In you back up, the fact is that the homeownership rate has ranged from 63% to 69% and is now at 66%. Not much of a headline there really.

All that said, the income inequality indices are unambiguous, and there is a problem. I am in favor of policies that skew more of the spoils to labor rather than capital, on both altruistic and, shall we say, preservationist grounds.

Waiting might sound like a good idea, but if you waited in 1973 for the mortgage rate to drop from the 7%s . . . you waited about 20 years.

We are boring. I took down all of my outdoor ”winter” string lights Easter weekend, mostly because of uv damage to the plastic. I had white lights strung along our fence/ property line, which was cheerful and I miss them. I started searching for solar summer alternatives. DH wants to get rid of old stumps in the yard

Last week…our younger cat broke his current favorite toy in the whole wide world and I needed a mouse sander. The younger cat also eats too fast in the mornings

hhireno, the antivomiting bowls are just bowls on a raised platform. I ended up just putting their food plate on top of a bowl Kori sometimes regurgitates when he eats too fast in the morning and shovels food into his mouth. In theory, a raised bowl improves digestion. Puzzle feeders are supposedly good too, but I haven’t found anything that looks easy to clean. Plate on bowl seems to be working this week.

Jilly, I had a black and decker mouse sander back when they first came out, but I wanted one with a dust catcher, so I donated it when we moved. I also wanted a cordless one, but the ones that exist are too expensive for my needs or have poor reviews. I ended up with another little black and decker.

it's pretty, that's why. And if it happens to be nearly total and a clear, pleasant day, why not?

I just got a new outdoor pizza oven, and I'm trying it out for the first time tonight. Maybe making your own pizza will help limit the level of carbs and processed products that make pizza a risky choice for you, because you control the ingredients and style?

Where I live "Guys" is the way that groups have been informally addressed most frequently, for my entire adulthood. I teach in a program that tends to run between 90%-100% women and it's still "Guys". It was when I was their ages, it is now, decades later. "Ladies" is used, but sometimes this is tongue-in-cheek or mock formal.

And though it may offend some in here, particularly in certain parts of the country, "Hey b--ch, or "My b--ches" or "Hey mama" are used in a very friendly fashion between women who are contemporaries, but this seems to be something that ages out. Meaning it was used when I was their age, it is still used among young women to each other, but older women no longer really say that to each other. It's all about tone and ownership of certain words, much like people of certain races or cultures can use words among themselves that are more likely offensive if used by someone else.

Ladypat I am weeping with laughter, thank you for that!

I might just keep them both. Having two will certainly diminish the wear on one alone. I looked last spring for the same jackets and never found anything at any price that I liked as much as these two.

Thank you for asking about DH, Bumble. Right now he is on a train trip across Canada with DS2. … a bucket list item for him. We have a few more of those coming up. He is no longer in remission and we are both feeling and processing all that entails, but still very hopeful and trying to live fully every day. I’m starting golf lessons and continuing with art classes and my singing. Dh is connecting with friends and family in every way he can.

Because he’s been gone I can sit in bed at night and pore through websites and create montages of outfits on morpholio, call for sizing info, order, and try on to my heart’s content. It’s been fun! I also made an updated list of everything I need in a purse, ordered stuff in multiples , collated it all into zippered pouches and outfitted all my purses in the current rotation with the necessary items, so ALL I have to do to change purses is move my wallet. I change purses a LOT; I love them and it’s silly to have something and not use it. I have seven bags in the current rotation, so 7 packs of small tissues, 7 travel sized lotion, 7 Burts Bees or cherry chapstick, 7 tiny folding reading glasses, 7 small bottle or eye drops, 7 packets I made up with ibuprofen and zofran ….etc.
