It appears that the half-shelves perhaps aren't intended to be disassembled, the glass isn't part-sourced as a separate item from the frame. The full-width glasses (crisper cover, etc.) are separate from the frames.
It isn't just KitchenAid. Someone somewhere deserves to rot somewhere for designing these impossible to clean spots.
Thx!

That guy kinda reminds me of Weird Al.
Judi, I work on washing machines. I've seen any number of times what cold water washing does to the machine ... layers of smutz on the exterior of the inner drum and interior of the outer tub. No cold water here. Lowest I go for the few temperature sensitive items is 90°F to 95°F.
I use liquid softener only on sheets, a low dose for the scent. Excess/frequent softener also smutzes-up the machine, *especially* with cold water washing.
I don't use dryer balls. There's logically no appreciable effect garnered from them.
Carole, please explain...I don't get it. I looked up "Ode to Haggis" but didn't think it applied here, lol.
I find the callouts irritating and unnecessary and always tag them as inappropriate. Tag the spam and be done with it! Suspicious posts I find that are not yet spam, I bookmark them in a list for review every couple/few days and tag the spam if/when it occurs. No debris left behind, like the drivel above.
Drivel? If it's drivel, at least it's interesting.
Have your duct cleaned.
ker9, duct cleaning is referenced in the OP, 6th sentence under "What I've done."
Kendrah, airflow through the dryer is equally important as heat, else it's like trying to dry clothes in a steam room. One of your referenced points is "Checked that air is flowing to exterior vent." The airflow from the outdoor exhaust hood should ideally have some force, similar to a hair dryer.
