Allowing a strip of lawn to remain uncut may be a good option for many, but planting more shrubs that are attractive to bees and other insects (plus provide safe nesting areas for birds) is also a good idea. Never forget that Lyme disease is on the rise as is Powasin desease (both very serious problems) and both are carried by deer ticks. Ticks hide in tall grass and flourish. Better to cut the grass while still providing good habitats for insects and birds in other ways that will not lead to health problems.
Thanks Suzanne, for taking on a vicarious trip to High Point Market without all the long bus rides, crowds, far-off hotel rooms and tired feet that come with actually attending! I love the blues and greens, fun takes on 1970s, animal prints and chinoiserie. I also learned a new word, "Passementerie." :) And I'm such an admirer of Amber Lewis, she's an amazing and talented woman. I'm excited to see the rest of her line.
Love the unique vibe of each of these kitchens. Thank you for the article. Lots of ideas and styles for us to entertain!
While each kitchen was a huge improvement over its ”before” photo, #4 was the standout to me. The kitchen is where everyone gathers when company comes for holidays, birthdays, etc, and this kitchen can accomodate. Mostly I love the uncluttered look and simplicity, but interest, of its finishes. It may be large, but its calm beauty is appealing. I could imagine lounging on that green sofa with coffee in the morning.
Love all of this!
Agree w Mar. The two left tile choices are warmer and tie the browns in your floor/ dining room table into the cabinet and counter tops. The two right choices are cold grey, which is going out of style.
Have your electrician to run a plug strip immediately under the cabinet edge so you won't have whatever tile you choose interrupted by so many outlets with contactor grade plastic trim. We did it 20 years ago, and it makes a huge difference! it is surprising how many very, very expensive homes feature backsplashes with outlets all over them, when they can be all but invisible.
None of them. It is way too busy. Already 3 différents type of finish for your kitchen. 2 coloris of the cupboard and the countertop. I would go with something simple.
I would have been full of joy walking into this beautifully renovated bathroom for the first time andd ev
….and ever after. Love use of antique glass in cabinets.
Wow! What an incredible transformation and stunning design. This bathroom is timeless and incredibly functional now, and My favorite part is the steam shower. The great majority of homeowners have no idea how much wellness a steam shower can bring into your life. And if you don’t want to go the generator route you can install a “Serene Steam”, as it works entirely off your hot water heater. Love that you did the glass with the transom, and it appears from the drawing that the door opens in both directions which is genius! Also love that circular window as it’s drawing you towards the light…sunlight plus a nice hot shower is an excellent way to wake up in the morning.
