Joseph Corlett, “the natural stoners” that’s great! Yes, I see that, but regardless, I am obligated to educate my clients on not only the pros of everything we sell/supply/install, but also the CONS. I won’t steer someone in a direction that doesn’t make sense for them. Our job as professionals is to listen to the wants and needs of clients, and design the best project for their lifestyle and budget.

We did extensive research and were very well informed when we made our decision to have the Matarazzo Dolomite installed. It is not etching or if it is, it is not detectable due to the honed finish and the movement of the stone. We are very pleased with our decision even though our fabricator tried to talk us out of it. People come on Houzz to get information. I hope my comments help people make the right decision for their home. Insinuating that someone didn’t “do their research” is very condescending. Sometimes just hearing first hand from a person who has already had experience with the marble in their own home is good enough. We love it!

Keeping the cabinets as they are, I would go with an all white scheme.

- Painted white vent hood

- Warm white walls

- White quartz countertops

- White backsplash with an interesting pattern

- White sink

- New brushed nickel or polished chrome

- Brass accents: pendants above island, sconces with arms above sink, knobs and pulls

- Roman shade with arched top for window

- Painted white pantry as illustrated

- White (comfy) wishbone counter stools

Without a floorplan, I cannot say if it's possible for you to change the shape of the island nor do I know if that will work since you are keeping the existing floortiles.

I know that this discussion is over a year old, but I just came across it. I used Nanoglass for a client's bathroom and it's just beautiful, and very easy to care for. She didn't want marble and did not like the flat look of plain white quartz. So we went with Nanoglass.
