I 2nd Pricklypearcactus. That's my cheap solution...and it's not ugly....or dangerous....
We use "Post & Rail" fencing around here. It's cheap. It's sturdy. No cement. Will last 20 years. Do you have a "Big R", ranch supply store? It's about $16 for a post, $13 for a rail. I maintain about 3 miles of it.
If trucks are hitting the mulch, theyll likelikely hit the fence, too too. will you repair or replace it every time it gets wrecked? is this a diy job?
This time I don’t have a bargain, but I do have a ”kill”. Here’s the story in pictures.
Have been on the hunt for at least four years for a Yves Saint Laurent top that matches a skirt that was given to me. It’s by Tom Ford and from the Fall 2001 Gypsy Collection. I’ve found a few that were all too small, until last week when one popped up on eBay.
This is my inspiration board with the blouse. I’ve looked with various degrees of focus and a few weeks ago, a little voice said “up the intensity”.
The blouse on eBay. If you don’t know, it’s underwhelmimg.
My skirt
The outfit
The outfit on the cover of Vogue (which I also own).
And there is not enough room to show my smile! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
These things are always difficult for me, because I don't want to buy anything that I would not pay full price for. There is lots of things that I never buy because I can't afford them at full price, that's not what I mean, but I don't want to buy anything just because it is inexpensive. Of course one makes adjustments and allowances so it may be a little difficult to understand my exact process here. But things don't become more attractive to me at a lower price.
I found two cute J McLaughlin dresses on Poshmark in the Catalina cloth (nylon and spandex) I love so much. Both have horizontal stripes and fit perfectly! This is the more casual blue and white
The taupe and black one is in the wash and is more fitted and detailed but fits the same way. Jewel neckline, just above the knee, three quarter sleeves… the golden trifecta! Together just under $100, and both in perfect condition. And did you notice I have blue and white striped flats to go with this one?? Yippeee!
Portland Leather is very high quality but the leather is thick and stiff and very leathery smelling. I returned a crossbody bag from them and had to pay for the return.
Outdated makes me think I might go the other direction. My mother's, her mother's, and maybe even another generation before. They're empty, but maybe it would be better if they were used?
Outdated? those are lovely.
I bought these Crane notes in college and have loved this pattern since.
IDK, I don't think anyone needs a video to know not to wear this outfit. People who would choose this are probably not into fashion. I find this with a lot of "content;" ie it is pretty obvious and not much value add.
I also do not think there is anything fresh or modern about the blouse she chose instead. Lastly, as the proud owner of copious amounts of Mikimoto in many forms, I have to say that pearl studs are not "modern and fresh," (her words) either.
ETA - the gold gizas look cute
That Frenchwoman is not even stylish herself IMO, and the person who needs to be told not to wear that floral blouse and those royal purple polyester pants needs a personal shopper, not youtube.
Lollol, Bumblebee, do you know anyone who has a YT channel who is NOT narcissistic? Doesn’t the job itself require a certain baseline exhibitionism?
I always have a hard time packing shoes. I just bring (or want to bring) too many.
Agree 100%. This is the biggest issue. If you are touring, you have to be comfy. One thing I have definitely learned is never buy new shoes for a trip, even if it is a pair you already own and like. With all the walking one typically does on vacation, I can render myself non-ambulatory with the wrong shoe. I hate wearing sneakers and socks when it is really hot. I cannot readily buy different shoes if I end up needing something I don't have with me, since size 10 is less common. And I feel sheepish going to an upscale restaurant in the "wrong" shoes. And trust me, I am not a fashionista!
I often come home from a trip to find that I ended up loving certain things and not wearing others, and I never know in advance what that will be. Add to that the fact that vacation is a "special event" and not just a trip to Whole Foods, so you want to look nice.
I just saw this at the top of the page and thought, OMG, it's not even really Spring yet, who's thinking about fall shoes! Then I saw a bot revived it. Phew!
Not Fall...but I just happened upon these Taos white tennis shoes this weekend-they are SO comfy and have really good support and LOVE they are slip-on! They aren't bulky-which I like more in the spring/summer.
The store (MetroShoe Warehouse) did not have my size in white, so I bought on Amazon for 49.99. I got the Hemp color also.

I went from one pair of bootees I never wear to four 🤔 Based on recommendations on another thread I now have two pair of the Naot Kamsin boot (with the strap) and one pair of gray suede Emma boots from Gentle Souls. Influencers, all!
Nicole you have such a lovely property and house. That's so sweet that you are looking for a dog that needs you and doesn't have someone else who needs the specific dog more than you do. I'm positive you'll find one that can stay with you. I hope the next time it's a much better experience for you.
Salvona, I bet you are right that the owners have considered breeding the dogs for money. I've met some (not great) people in the past who did the same.
Luciile, like to say the best thing to have done was take the dog to the shelter and let them talk to the family. That little thing is going to have a miserable life. i wonder what if …there is a chance to talk to them. Tomorrow is going to be an awakening and 2nd thoughts for them. i believe they will get rid of it somehow. putting a dog on Craig's List is a heartless thing to do. they have no idea.
at this point, after all you've been through recently, taking a break is a wise decision.
i'll just put this out here in case you, and maybe others reading this thread are unaware...rawhide chews are not a good idea for any dog. they are notorious for causing blockages that more often than not, will require abdominal surgery to remove. i don't know why stores even sell these!
That seems sensible^
I bought a pair of shoes from poshmark that were designated as used but were pristine, the bottoms of the shoes had obviously never touched pavement. They looked like someone tried them on and never actually wore them, and I thought well in a shoe store you’re trying on stuff other people have tried on. 🤷♀️
Dark chocolate
Well maybe but actually it makes me happy so that's a good thing! The vast majority of my food comes from superfoods.
PS I am thinking the disposable eye patches would be used for special occasions when I want to look good. Definitely not a daily thing.
Today is my botox consult! Ironically also the day I see my dentist about the crown that partially broke thanks to teeth grinding. I definitely want the botox for the grinding/TMJ but I could be convinced to do a tiny bit around my eyes…curious to see what she recommends.
@Kswl one of the eye masks I looked at contained caffeine, niacinamides, and some other stuff, most of which is in theEmogene eye serum I already use. I think the masks are substantially the same as using eye cream and plastic wrap. 😆 I think I’ll pass.
I did not realize the Emogene eye serum I use also contains bakuchiol!
The PA I saw yesterday had just had microneedling done the day before. Her skin is gorgeous and she does not wear make-up. I meant to ask her about microneedling for me and forgot.
This is a good article and I do like who what wear and generally it's considered a classic in moderation.
My mother had a long faux leopard coat in the ’60s, how I wish I had it (I do have my grandmother’s c. 1940s red coat with big brass buttons).
Leopard/other animal prints will always be in style to me. I don’t overdo it, but always have them in my wardrobe and decor.
I have dyed rabbit fur coat and fur hat (brown), sheared raccoon fur coat (red), 3 sweaters, a jacket and a pair of shoes in leopard print.
Shop your house first and borrow harps and shades from other lamps in your home. That way if you find a shape you like or size, you have a starting point for measurements, shape. There are no shade shops near me anymore. So I have to order online. I like the lamp! Worth the hunt! And consider an interesting finial, too
Well, they make bamboo floors and fences, so I would think bowls would be ok for durability.
foas, It's a pretty common theme I see on the internet about people not washing their jeans, although I personally find it gross and I also think they're probably lying and stink LOL
Carole, please explain...I don't get it. I looked up "Ode to Haggis" but didn't think it applied here, lol.
It probably came back beautifully plated on a layer of spit.
I feel like in a city where you can spend $300 a person on any old night at certain restaurants, and up from there, actually--yes, if I ate at a restaurant like that, I would expect artistic and flawless plating.
The restaurant in question has entrees in the $18-25 range. Sure, you don't want it hanging off the plate, but I think one has to temper one's criteria accordingly.
