People mention how hard it is to clean behind the bathtub when it's within the shower room. I'm amazed that people aren't freezing in their large bathrooms and showers. Maybe I should have used radiant heat in the floor. Instead we installed a toekick heater that I can crank up to get the room toasty before showering. Just yesterday, I was thinking my 6' long shower could have easily been 4 or 5 feet instead and I could have had towel storage in the bathroom and DVD storage in the room next door. I did learn that using a designer would have been (hopefully) better than just depending on our contractor because strangely, he couldn't read my mind!

Oh, the joy of having to clean dust bunnies out from under the claw foot tub! And don't forget to remove the "clutter" of spider webs lodged in the tiny gap between the wall and the oh-so trendy soaker tub! Seriously, unless someone has a very LARGE bathroom that allows enough space to walk all the way around a free-standing tub, I don't see anything but MORE WORK and inevitable accumulation of grime on the hard to reach sides (inevitably squeezed too close to a wall) of those free-standing tubs! And I have always wondered just how will anyone ever repaint the wall behind one of those tubs, if you can't even get your hand down there, let alone a paint brush! (There is a reason those claw foot tubs went out of favor the first time!) They do look charming, however! (Unlike those modern, bulky "boats" in the bathroom, imho!)
