I'd paint the cabinet (glossy) and a rich jewel tone, or even black, change the hardware.

Limit the plain dishes - add something more colorful and fun.....doesn't even need to be china or stemware!

Leave the table completely alone, ditch the chairs for new! Be those upholstered or other.

Kath these tornadoes in Kentucky are getting to be really scary as they become more numerous. Do any of your neighbors have basements? Some of my neighbors don’t so they know that if the sirens go off we will unlock our doors and wait for them in our basement.

bacino, all the neighbors on the inner side of our street have basements but I don't know any of them well enough to ask to come into their home. Apparently we had something like 11 tornados after they evaluated things, days later. That's crazy and scary.

Oh, I would guess any of your neighbors would happily welcome you!

Also, you might want to consider having a low-key Happy Hour with your neighbors sometime. We used to do that and it was a great way to get to know each other. Everyone brought something to share.

Can only advise, but I see high end appliances, with the corner pantry from the nineties?

I wouldn't want it - most times, it is eliminated: ) and it's one of the first things to go in a remodel.

You can get a ton of storage in five feet of reach in pantry. All the tall cabinetry on one side, and the cook on the shorter wall..ice, water. FIRE.

Is there a reason both DW need to be 24 inches? An 18" as a second works great.

Again....."she want's what she wants....but. : ) that does scream 1995 in the corner with 12" deep shelving at best, versus five feet with a depth of 24.
