Yep. Been through all that with great ideas posted you will eventually decided what you want perhaps by stumbling upon it as a suggestion on here. Good luck. Unless your floors are wood, btw, I would do a concrete stain in keeping with your industrial look.

It must be a bit disappointing to find cinder blocks...It would certainly steal beauty from the natural bricks, and too many of them would not do their job. My advice is to avoid using fake tiles.Instead, it recycles wood or natural plaster or a combination of the two.Check out some ideas for natural grooming here

Chook, that's really pretty back there. It looks to me that your property goes on beyond the wisteria in the back: that this is a patio area but not at the back of your lot. I thought your shed was to the left further back. I can never get oriented. What are you going to do when you say the wisteria fence will get done? Replaced, repaired, painted or grafted onto another fence piece. It looks like Ms Wisteria is rather fond of this fence, like she's hugging it. You might have a hard time separating the two. Sometimes I am so very hesitant to update something because like your wisteria there, for instance, part of the beauty and the charm is the weathered, authentic, imperfections of it. New fences all together and sharp looking are very nice and pretty and all that but it's impossible to put back what you tear away. BUT THEN, when somethng is new, after much protest and concern, I rather like it and think to myself, why didn't I do that sooner? Well, I know why...I'm a fan of original and will sometimes fight to keep it, I have a budget, I have more than one thing that needs to be done around here so "hey, take a number", priorities yes, the mess and misery that most renovations of any sort make...
I have lotsof reasons"not to" that I need to turn around.
The grapes would be wonderful. I wonder if you'd have any left afer the birds and squirrels had their day with it. You may have to plant two for sharing.
Hubby will probably put a metal basin in that stand there for him to have him some he-man fire pit. Better rush to put a beautiful old rred geranium in there with a bit of ivy. It would be fancy enough to put at your front door. But maybe a hot bright hot pink, I mean REAL pink would be best with your paint colours Look how splayed hose legs are though. I'll bet you that D is right. That thing was built to hold some weight and keep it steady. Good call, D.
So, I will wave to all. Blow a kiss and say goodnight. Be safe. Try happy. Remember you are very special.

Reminder, Jimmy Fallon show tonight! Barbra Streisand for the first time in 50 years has she ever been on a talk show.
(I know...Rinah suspects I'm trying to speak English but can't be quite sure)

Of course, this link is not responding but it's from 2Cellos. They are two young men from Croatia and have performed with Elton John. I think Ali did talk about them at one point. The only Silent Night I find from The Piano Guys features Placido Domingo and it is beautiful but not just instrumental obviously. :)

I was able to hear this....absolutely gorgeous...

Just last week borrowed a cello made by a friend, and finally as Christmas winds down, I was able to sit down last night and try to figure it out. Got to where I could play three hymns in two octaves and one could even recognize them! :/ (I'm laughing at myself.)

hello, just found you and want to comment so as to follow along. I have much to read but I LOVE that kitchen. I don't get my attention grabbed that often but your dilemma has. I hope to catch up soon.

Update: I'm still waiting to get the floor plan from the building department to post. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. In the meantime, I'm building my Ideabook of MCM kitchens.

@Bungalowmo thanks for the CL environment-friendly suggestion for removing the cabinets. This house reminded us of Frank Lloyd Wright too.

The shag rug references are interesting... my daughter wants to set up the third bedroom that's open to the living room as a "teen hang-out" with a shag rug, futon and bean bag chair. Perhaps a nod to Greg Brady's attic bedroom.

To further show the eclecticism of this house, here are some photos of the powder room on the first floor (behind the refrigerator wall). We want to replace the fixtures with white vanity and white toilet to break up the black marble tile on the walls and floor. It's on our list of must change to make livable.

Kitchen with many possibilities! I would go with light maple cabinets, red laminate countertops. And for heaven's sake, stay away from stainless appliances. Look for white or "almond" (off white ones) to go with the vibe of the floors. With a few red accessories ( tea kettle, towels, cannisters) you'll have a kitchen your friends will envy.

I have google searched the image but am coming up empty handed. Those ARE great looking, most definitely. I would call Smith and Noble and ask them. Have the catalogue edition number, date, etc handy when you do...page number and all...I have made calls like that and generally the folks have been great, wherever I have called. I think it's a compliment. Good luck!

Gray & Walter, Ltd.
They look like a vintage Arne Jacobsen design. Google that genius designer, perhaps you'll like something else he made that is still produced.

Thanks for the suggestion Gray and Walter. I'm a fan of Arne Jacobsen and could certainly see something from his collections working well in our home someday. The basic lines of this chair do remind me of his designs, but it's the textures, colors and unique structure that really have my interest. I've not found them yet and intend to keep looking (as Vintage Jazz suggested), but I may eventually end up looking for something similar as you suggested.

Through years and experience, one learns things, hopefully. At 21, I knew nothing about gas stoves except my mom's best friend had one and made the best, most amazing cornbread she dropped into hot oil in the cast iron skillet. They were like spoonfuls of cornmeal and wAter spooned like a pancake. They were incredible like snowflakes and crunchy. She was very much a product of back woods poor people in the south and this is how they did it. She was a great cook! In one of my favorite films of all time, Samuel L. Jackson explains how even the most posh restaurant has it's roots in poverty. He explains that the best foods came from improv efforts using whatever was available to eat in the region and harvest. So he is absolutely correct. All these delicately prepared fancy delights would have a different reaction to them if presented differently. That is totally irrelevant to this however.

My point is, helpme is learning (as we all are) and this is something I can contribute. ..Be smart, think it through, learn, realize priorities. It's sad but true, most people are in things for themselves and you need to watch out for you. Always take into account whether someone stands to gain or lose anything by their actions or advise. Money changes everything. Good luck, dear.I wish you joy and sweet dreams ahead. Be safe.

We had a cabinet that we needed expanded to put in the newer shape of a TV - i.e. our old wall unit had a square and we wanted a larger TV that is a rectangle. AMAZING workmanship from our new friend Elroy of JC Custom Design works. Check out his site for ideas to fix your cabinets if you are in the Denver area and need custom woodworking or carpentry.

When we were first married I was on the left side of the bed......not for any reason I can remember. But when we moved I ended up on the right because that's where we could fit our cradle. And I'm still there, even though now the cradle is for grandchildren. Thanks for such a lovely reminder on Mother's Day.

We lost our beloved cat four months ago and buried him between two tall bamboos, one of his favorite spots. We added a slice of a heart-shaped tree trunk and a faded soapstone cat that already held vigil at his predecessor's grave. Since I took the photo, we've planted some ferns.

I'm sorry for your loss. We lost our amazing cat of seventeen years a while back. Since she hated going to the vet, we had our vet come out to our house for our final good bye. My husband stood strong and placed her under the ground of her favorite hanging spot. Three children and two parents got a stone and a Sharpie, wrote her a note and placed it above her resting spot. I still miss her like crazy.

Good grief! Dont be ridiculous, you're standing right there at the stove. Reach up and adjust it. Another thing to get grimey paws on...all covered with food and grease then lost or dropped into the flames!!! No.

I've never had the buttons fail. More likely the remote will get lost or gunked up with kitchen stuff.

Thank you all for your comments; as a matter of fact yes, we are already producing Cooking Hoods with Remote Controls. We believe is a way to give the designers more freedom to create better looking hoods without the need to add a button location and thus resulting in a piece of art with functionality for your kitchens. But we wanted to pop out this question to constantly see how people change their way of thinking about adding more technology to a kitchen hood.

There are different tastes in having or not a design hood on our kitchen and all opinions are respected!
