This is old are we done?
You can also add some window treatments preferably of a linens/cottons for a more cozy feel
This arrangement would free up space for yr vase and art work.

I think you have a lot of brown in your room...brown couch, brown art work, brown shelves, tall brown vase...I would go with a lighter finish on the console. And, I'd add some pop with colorful pillows on the couch and interesting lamps. I wouldn't go with a 74" console because you see it as too big, and I think you always would. I'd go with 64" because you seem more comfortable with that size. I disagree with always following "rules" just because they're rules...I think sometimes we should go with what just feels right to us!
Projects tackled with love, Tho.
Enjoy.

Take your time. The Dutch colonial gable and shakes are setting a tone that you should try to enhance, not change. Search the web for Dutch colonial gable and Dutch colonial shakes to get some ideas flowing. When budget allows you might consider installing a Dutch door - they are so interesting and pretty, IMO.
could be modified for yr needs.
I'm not sure that this is a consideration but you mentioned windows in yr dilemma.
The lanscaping ideas are stand outs ,also.
Worth looking into.
jayhawkers61, this is a post from 2014.
Could the right half of the home be bumped out with a window instead of a door, removing the porch? That way there would be more space inside and it wouldn't look as if their were two entrances. It would also create a united front between home and brick.
Coffee tables can be higher than the seat in some cases, though. An example would be using a large steamer trunk for a coffee table. It may be higher than the seat but does not look out of place due to its overall proportions and original intended use.
I hope this will answer your question ;-)

and white furniture would look nice in yr space with toasted walls
The rest of the decor would look quite nice in yr space, also.
modern but would suit your cabinets and floors and window surround
2. Get an armoire for the TV and audio/sound equipment. It will hide the modern equipment and fill the wall. Get a short but long one if putting under the clerestory windows.
3. Paint the walls a pale beige. Although some of your pictures show a color darker than the trim work so they may be fine the way they are.
4. Get rid or the rug..its dated... get something with a more modern pattern in blues and beiges, along with cushions to match or complement, with a splash of very dark brown. Pale blues with a dark chocolate brown color is a nice combination.
5. The window coverings are fine, but turn the blinds the other way so the light bounces off the ceiling and illuminates the room
6. Invest in nice piece of wall art/painting for the entry area. The picture there is too small.
As Vielle Frances Interieurs suggests
ref/insp. pic
1) Add a large area rug (under that table)
2) Replace the mirror with a large floor mirror (at least 5' High, and 36" Wide). The bigger the better, to brighten and open the space.
3) Hang beautiful fabric or drapes on either side of the new large mirror.
The flowing drapes, large mirror and area rug, with your existing table (placed in front of large mirror) will create an inviting cozy atmosphere!
Please post new pic after you've refined the area.

You have a lovely house!!
Much easier clean up w/o rug.
also, the light fixture is traditional and the rug contemporary and in this instance I don't think the twain should meet. ;)
Try to arrange the furniture so that it looks something like this. I know that the arms may be in an awkward position but you may free up space.
I think it can work if you give it a try.
Good luck!!

everything should sparkle.
Spend as little as you can because you don’t know buyers’ taste.
I really don't think it had anything to do with the granite. It was more the market changed.
Nicely done. Good work.
Looks great - I bet the new hardware really finished off the look.
It appears a bit vintage to suit yr space
vintage charm for relaxing at the fireplace
I wouldn't sweat the table you have -- it matches and is unobtrusive. I agree with those suggesting a taller lamp there to better balance the tall stuff opposite, but that's about the best you can do -- you have to work with the space and its constraints without making yourself into a pretzel in search of perfect symmetry!
Remove everything from the end tables except the lamps
The lantern is too large for the mantle
remove the pot from under the end table
remove the ceramic stool
It's difficult to make out what else is in the room from the pic on the right side which appears dark on my monitor
good luck!!
