LOL - I think that was DH who did that - weeding is one of his important contributions to this garden :-) so take it as a compliment that he was trying to contribute to your garden too!

As always, it was a pleasure to wander around in Rouge's garden. The older - and more decrepit! - I get the more the challenge of making a garden in a smaller space appeals to me. Rouge has done a very good job at that! I should have taken a picture of the view out the patio doors across from the kitchen table - the line 'call in the country' from a classic 1731 Alexander Pope poem immediately came to mind! Advice written for the owner of a large estate hundreds of years ago is still relevant today for a smaller suburban garden!

Rouge has talked here about removing the 'Campfire' roses in the front garden, and posted pictures of his gorgeous white hibiscus. That hibiscus is currently the star of the garden as we arrived:

The 'Bobo' hydrangeas are also something I consider as one of Rouge's 'signature' plants - just out of sight to the left of the above picture they were playing a duet with the hibiscus!

I didn't get a picture of it, but just across the path where the red flowers can be seen, was a yellow petunia that had white and green in the color as well. It tied the hydrangea, hibiscus, and Helianthus (?) together nicely.

A couple of other combinations of color harmonies with plants also caught my eye in the backyard. This one with a yellow rose behind a 4 o'clock that included a matching yellow appealed to me:

And these phlox and Japanese maple leaves had a nice harmony:

Another plant that I consider a 'signature' plant of Rouge's is Thalictrum 'Splendide'. He's often posted pictures of it but I never really got a good sense of it's height until I saw it today against a hedge - not the best of pictures but you can see that it is TALL!

I couldn't resist taking this picture of a charming cat statue - When I first caught a glimpse of it, I thought it was a real cat watching us :-)

Garden visiting is always a fun outing! Thank you, Rouge, for inviting and hosting us today.
