Make the bases all drawers to start…
When you come to a forum like this, make sure you remind yourself that outsiders with a fresh eye and design professionals are always going to shine a light on potential mistakes and bad ideas to help you fix them. defining the problem is the first step to finding solutions. receiving this feedback as free help and not ”being nasty” is key to the learning process.
for your home style I would select clapboard, shingle siding requires a few more architectural details to make it look special. these green tones will compliment your bricks.
It’s much better to wait to choose backsplash after your countertops are installed. Some people have waited as much as a year or two. No need to rush. Don’t let your “kitchen guy” pressure you. You don’t want to have any regrets on your choices.
Go to the stone yard! Reassurance is good.

Oooh I like your choices. Much better. I was at a golf tournament so missed all the fun.
Happy to help.
Painting brick the fastest way to devalue your home , no shutters and this is my all time fave for siding color with brick notice how all the trim is the same color I will look fabulous on that house .Then on to the landscaping to bring the whole thing to life
You have a lot going on in the midst of this renovation. Why must you chose a counter today? I ask because anytime you have to rush a decision the chances of making a mistake go way up... So take a breath and think about all that is going on. Don't let anyone rush you.
When I was struggling with a decision on my counters. We had plywood put in temporarily in. Crazy but it gave a us a chance and time to find the right stone for our space. I joked that I didn't care if the plywood got dirty because it was temporary. My point is don't rush. Take it slowly and make your choices with confidence not urgency.
A few questions...
Is there going to be a wall behind the stove or induction cooktop? Or is that wide open to harm little hands reaching up? What about a hood?
What are the floors going to be? Wood? Tile? Colors?
I love Polar Bear white by Behr it is a soft wonderful color. It actually has a warm peach beige undertone. I think it would look great with either stone counter choice you have listed.
The thread here is GOLD! I hope you show your wife so you get the dream kitchen you didn’t know you could even dream of!
After going through a Reno, I will say the things I love most in our kitchen are the clearance ways. 48” feels sooooo good. No one will notice it per se but in the day to day function, it creates an ease and flow that you can’t replicate. It’s luxury.
Also we worked with a KD, went to multiple high end cabinet showrooms, worked with a custom cabinet company…and the design we used that was bar none, the best…@jan_moyer original design.
If she gives you a layout, take that and run!!! You can tweak obviously but she nailed our design from day one.
And tell your wife in the kindest way that the internet with random strangers has said no no to corner pantry 😂
You could paint the othger three how you wish and I would just paint the door under the stairs the wall color. You really are not looking to make that door a feature or really noticed entity, you just kind of want it there and to blend in and sort of disappear.
