Its hard to tell from photos but the cabs read warm and backsplash cool grey. if changing lighting soesnt help i would choose a new backsplash and leave cabs as they are. repainting is very expensive and may not be as good as factory finish.

I don;t know about material for awning--my though would be to match the roof. I suggest that you make the new awning wide enough to be symmetric with the peak of the roof. Then widen the door stoop and sidewalk to fit. Perhaps place a bench or a planter in the new area.

I'm thinking of hanging huge mirrors in their direction.
