I have a 30" x 18" sink with 18" x 18" integrated drainboard and my prep sink is 18" x 18". I do everything at the main sink and the prep sink is just an extra sink, if needed. The accessories for my sinks sit on the counter edge. The DW sits under the drainboard area.
Doesn't matter what kitchen I use ... I always prep on the 24" to the right (or left) of the main sink!
Good grief, I guess Jan and Patricia have never had lower back issues. Lucky you!
With an apron front the front edge of the sink is closer to you ... no front rail made of stone/quartz ... so you don't have to lean and/or bend forward as much.
Most fabricators make the stone/quartz front rail too wide, as it is easier/safer for them to fabricate and transport, so your sink ends up further back and can cause issues for those with back problems, since you have to bend and reach further forward.
Unless you are planning a tiny shower where the user is constantly bumping the curtain you shouldn't have any problem keeping water contained. We didn't get doors installed prior to our move in and put up a tensioned rod with shower curtain temporarily. Liked it so much we decided not to do doors. Easy care, affordable decor that can be changed when you tire of it or no longer washes well.
