Keeping lilly pilli out of pipes

In the Blue Mountains near Sydney, there are lilly pilli hedges everywhere. So while planning my own screening hedge, I was surprised to come across a warning from Sydney Water, to keep lilly pilli at least 6-10 metres away from water/sewerage pipes. I guess not many people are aware of that.

Wanting to keep my pipes nice & clear, I'm after opinions about how 'stunted' a normally tall lilly pilli (Goodbye Neighbours / Acmena Smithii) would be, by keeping it in a large pot. Acmena Smithii can reach 8m in ideal conditions, but I'd keep it in 60cm pots. Do you think it could make 3m tall, with lots of water & feeding? That would be all I'd need.
