Here's the second lot of photos.

One of the decorative Oxalis. Won't grow in the ground for me but is okay in the pot being totally ignored.

Turns out I have 3 species of Monstera. The common M. deliciosa that everyone knows. M. siltepecana I got as a small cutting but thought it had died. Recently noticed it above my head height. And this one, M. adansonii, which was here when I bought the place. Have quite a bit of it all over the place as it grows better and faster than the common M. deliciosa.

A member of the Ginger family, Globba winitii 'Ruby Queen' I've seen it called Thai Ginger, but then there's a lot of different things called that as well.

A Psittacorum Heliconia, they come in a number of different shades of colour. But they're very invasive and hard to keep under control.

Mussaenda 'Calcutta Sunset'

Mussaenda philippica, has grown to almost 3 metres tall and become very spindly.

A variety of Mussaenda, forgotten which one though.

Hoya pubicalyx, previously only flowered after the wet season but this year it's been flowering constantly throughout the wet season.

Never seen Mussaendas before , they differ in looks.
Used to have M. deliciosa, as a potplant of course, but eventually got too monstrous :>)
Oxalis does like to be neglected, but loves the sunny window sill over here. Most Hoyas are lovely, but the flower "sap" tends to drip..
Thanks for posting, I love to see the different plants.

Glad you liked them Inga. My Hoyas are outside so I've never noticed them drip.

I measure my bulbs and only replant those 12cm in circumference or larger to lesson the chance of non bloomers. The smaller bulbs can be saved in a nursery bed to increase the size for future blooming. I also must refrigerate my tulips for at lease 6 weeks before planting. Al

Hahaha, well my lawn looks like it belongs on some kind of a terrible rental property... the green bits are huge patches of crab grass and the rest is yellow! There's a small farm/nursery on the south side of Hwy 2 just east of Lakeridge Road - do you know it? It used to be called Lilac Farm, I think. For some reason because it's smaller, I can organize my thoughts better and I seem to be more efficient when I go there. That's where most of my money goes, although I do a lot of looking and dreaming at V's, I only buy there what I can't get at this other little place. I would reccomend you do some reading on both the prairie moon nursery site and on the www.prairienursery.com site. Both sites have good information about preparing field such as yours for a wildflower planting. One key note is that I would not just buy a bag of wildflower mix at the local big box retail store. These mixes tend to not be successful for many years. You want a quality seed mix from one of the websites mentioned previously or from a local native plant supplier check, with Indiana Native Plant society for recommendations in your area. You do want to mix grasses with your flowers. If you do some reading you will figure that out. what is the history of your 2 acre field of grass? Would it be possible to stimulate a dormant seed bank of wildflowers with a prescribed burn, where you may not have to plant anything? Or has it been plowed and planted as a farm in the past?

Well ...... it's not growing as much as it oughtta' ;-) And not only that -- new plants keep appearing in the yard of one who is cutting back on plants .... just don't understand how things like that happen. Like how I was a Schumachers the other day and bought a tropical orchid tree, but for $16 and in a 7 gal pot how is one to resist? And not only that -- now it's fixin' to bloom -- out of season! Jim, you probably have one, aren't they supposed to bloom in the spring? (p.s. thanks Omar and all :-)

Always a pleasure and informative L really like the variety. Re the Oxalis I have one hanging in a pot from the old Camellia -10 years? upward and has trailled untouched in that time.

have to love those gingers?? lol Mine are fast asleep of course ,my only complaint about them that and they won't grow in my sand so I have to keep them potted
I grow 4 kinds of Oxalis but they pop up everywhere except in the pots where I wanted them. love the deep purples .
I had a type of mussaenda once I found it to be very leggy. Windstorm put a shadehouse on top of it and I never replaced it. Your pic. have inspired me to try again though I'm trying to keep all my flowers in blue ,purple and white Thanks for the pix!! gary

The Oxalis is enjoying the heavy rain and more predicted from the Tropics- 40"s and bushfires last week and 15 in Melbourne today!!

I have several kinds of Oxalis, growing in a pot of course, but never any luck with the Iron cross one.
Must look it up and see if the culture needs differ from the more usual ones.

Tuppitoo, my Oxalis is probably around 7 or 8 years old. Originally I tried to start some in the garden hoping it wouldn't become a weed, but it soon died out. So I left those in the original pot and pretty much just ignore them. And they seem to just manage. I saw where some of our tropical weather made its way down to you. But Melbourne going down from 40's to 15 in a week isn't unusual. It's not unusual for it to happen within one day, LOL.

Gary, yes there's an amazing range of forms/shapes in gingers. And colours too. I recently got the "Blue Ginger", which isn't a ginger. The heat killed it off but when the rains set in it came back from the roots. I'll have to find the coldest dampest spot for it.

Inga, what do you mean by the "Iron Cross" one?
