Hello,
Can anyone please advise me on planting magonia teddybears around a saltwater pool. I'm worried about how the tree will cope with salt water overflowing to the roots. thanks.

Magnolia teddybears! I've never heard of 'em. Do they (does it) have another name?

M. grandiflora 'Southern Charm' aka Teddy Bear...seems to be a Monrovia TM.

could be a young magnolia but It does look like a fig if you select 3-4 of the strongest branches and prune them at about 1ft from the soil, it will grow in a nice open habit...or select one and prune it at about 2ft, stake it and it will be more of a half standard style the whip should be pruned at about 1' as well, this will induce branching below the cut

Doesn't look like Magnolia at all to me. Hard to tell from the photos but I certainly don't see the distinctive Magnolia buds. Reminds me more of Persimmon.

Forgot to add that M. grandiflora is usually saline soil and salt-spray tolerant, but if we are talking about a hybrid, I am unsure if that affects the tolerance.

Try ringing Alpine Advanced. I went there a couple of yrs ago and i remember the owners son being quite knowledgeable abouts the Teddy Bears. He said Little Gem will soon be gone and Teddy Bear will take its place. He showed me a specimen at his house and i remember him saying how hardy it was. I not sure what he said about salt specifically though.
