Your chance for blooms next year pruning now may be dependent on your weather this season...If you don't wait any longer I think you at least have a chance for buds to set in late summer in what must be a Z8 climate (?). If your azaleas are healthy you can cut them back to the desired 4' or even lower - unlike large leafed rhododendrons, azaleas have dormant buds all along their stems just under the bark and will sprout from immediately below any cut you make. If they are too tall at 6' and 4' is ideal, you may want to cut them back even lower - or be faced with another major pruning job in a few short years.

So ... (I'm learning) ... you went around the grove with a shovel? Just a line around the grove? Didn't have to actually scoop the dirt out, just cut a line? How deep did you have to go? The bamboo laying on the ground (or growing) outside the grove - did that come up in just one year? What do you do about it? (the grove is pretty, by the way) Leslie

The taller types of Geranium benefit from shearing after the first flush of bloom. Cut all stems to about 3". The plants will put on a new flush of leaves and may reflower. G. sanguinium types can be sheared by taking 3" off the top growth to remove dead heads.

I got this Pachira tree about two weeks ago from Lowes. Allot of the leaves were torn up, and some were too big, so I decided to cut almost all of the leaves. I only left the light green baby leaves. Is there a possibility hat I killed it? If it lives, will it grow back to the way I had it (like the first photo)? Is there anything I could do to make it produce more leaves or grow quicker?
