 o The Prize!

Hymenocallis caroliniana

Hymenocallis caroliniana is commonly known as spider lily and is a member of the Amaryllis family. It's whispy, icy-white flowers are really unusual and appear in mid-to-late summer. Hymenocallis translates to "beautiful membrane" and refers to the corona that connects the stalks of the stamens for a portion of their length. The attractive 8-12” high, almost succulent, foliage holds up well throughout the growing season. Native from the Southeast to the Midwest U.S., I predict that it is at least zone 5 hardy if not zone 4.

This month's contest winner will receive three Hymenocallis caroliniana supplied by Sunshine Farm & Gardens.
