The Prize!
Schizostylis coccinea 'Oregon Sunset'
Schizostylis coccinea 'Oregon Sunset' is listed in many books as a zone 7 plant, but I'm pleased to report that it has thrived here for almost a decade in zone 5. It's a late bloomer with tall (12"-24") spikes above attractive iris-like foliage, almost as tall as the flowers spikes. The brilliant red flowers are very oriental in appearance and the plant is a very vigorous grower. It prefers full sun to part shade and average to moist soil.
This month's contest winner will receive three
