I love gardening although most of my efforts are hit-or-miss and I occasionally have killed a plant by fussing over it too much. I love variety, but have an average-sized yard with both shade and sun. This is the fifth year that I've been trying to landscape with flowers/perennials and it seems a bit overwhelming at times. Regardless, I love to play in the dirt and my daughter (9 year old) wholeheartedly is part of the "gardening adventure." The Latin name vs. common name thing is just killing me. I check this site with a a huge book of "Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers" next to me and get frustrated at my lack of knowledge.
