I grow roses on the Central Oregon Coast, where the winter temperatures are usually no lower than the mid-40's...but the summer temperatures are rarely higher than the mid-60's, with fog and rain being common throughout the year. My area had almost 90 inches of rain during 2012, and that was with drought from June to October...It's a challenge, but it's worth it. My grandparents were avid rose-growers in this same climate. If they did it, so can I.
My garden currently includes these roses: Queen Elizabeth, Apothecary Rose, Rosa Mundi, Colette, Glamis Castle, Pretty Jessica, Just Joey, Julia Child, Topaz Jewel, New Zealand, Zephirine Drouhin, Gruss an Aachen, Mayor of Casterbridge, Alfred de Dalmas, Gruss an Coburg, Carefree Spirit, Blanc Double de Coubert, Double Delight, Mme Louis Leveque, Tranquility, Mlle Blanche Lafitte, Mme Isaac Pereire,..and I currently have about 5,000 others on order from Vintage Gardens...
