I'm pretty new to gardening. I've always lived in an apartment and for the past several years, all I was able to have were house plants. I've just recently acquired my very own place with a fenced-in back yard. I've been reading the forums, looking at the books, talking to people, visiting the nurseries...spending mucho dinero $$$ - did I mention I speak Spanish fluently? I lived in Colombia for 10 years. Anyway, I finally started to get my hands dirty. I have a fairly shady location so I'm starting with the hostas, astilbe and bleeding hearts this year. I'm hoping to expand the list pretty soon. I took the "before" pictures, can't wait for the "after" shots ! I also began winter sowing this year, it's a lot of fun and the neighbors think I'm nuts standing out there in 20 degree weather !
