I moved from the Chicago area to SoCal about 35yrs ago. Though I miss the flowers, ferns, mushrooms, and fall colors of the midwest forests and prairies, I totally love the idea of being able to grow anything, anytime....Some of my suburban lawn freak neighbors dont appreciate my style of sans grass front yard its California Poppyville in the spring and reflects our semi-arid climate here in Simi Valley during the summer. I have a happy backyard and I let the Sunflowers grow where they decide. The monster Pumpkin Vines just might take over the whole yard....last year we had 22 pumpkins, so everybody got one! I really dig dirt...it just smells so good!
