Hello, I'm a non-traditional student in my senior year at FGCU going for bachelors degrees in English and History (Florida/Caribbean concentration). I love reading gardening or frontier journals from the 1800s and have been intrigued by them so much that I'm going to give gardening a shot. I'm a new gardener to Southwest Florida. I had some experience growing up in the Northeast, but it's been many years since and Florida gardening is WAY different. I'm determined to grow some of my own food because I have untold numbers of food allergies and they all seem to revolve around preservatives and foods with known high pesticide usage. I've been shopping at farmers markets for over a year, but still don't know exactly what's in their produce, so the best control is to try to grow my own. Here's hoping I can do it!
