I am an amatuer gardener (about two years) and I am obsessed with it! I love growing "different" edibles as well as staples. My front yard is a beautiful garden of mostly edibles and an olive tree. I also have four date palms (but not the good kind of date) and one other tree, not sure what it is. I have seven citrus trees in my backyard including grapefruit, tangelo, some normal kind of orange, a couple mandarin? orange trees, a sour orange, and a lemon tree. I also keep two laying hens.
