We bought our sadly neglected victorian house 10 months ago, and are slowly restoring it to its former glory. The garden was completely overgrown and it took us 4 days to hack our way through the waist high grass, brambles and bindweed. Once we had finished, it looked really empty, so we have been busy filling it with shrubs - mostly evergreen, as it looked so naked in the winter!
I suspected that there were perennials lying dormant in the soil, but we had to dig it vigorously to rid it of weeds.
However, we had a wonderful surprise in the spring when things started to pop up - daffodils and tulips, followed by a stunning display of bluebells and now, forget-me-nots.
We are slowly getting there.....
Our hobbies are, the house and garden, followed by the house and garden, followed by the house and garden.......!
