Having been a Chef for 25 years, I quit 3 years ago ('01) and became an Interent seller at eBay. At that time, I met a Master Gardener, who redesigned a pretty good chunk of my yard that had otherwise been pretty sad-looking, overrun by a raspberry thicket and grass. Since that time, she and I have been through rollercoaster rides that have, thankfully, kept us as friends and, moreover, kindled a love for gardening and growing things for me, which I never had before.

Last year, I designed a couple of garden areas for friends and since then, have been taking classes in everything I can get my hands on at Denver Botanic Gardens and working towards certification as a Rocky Mountain Gardener through DBG.

My gardens have grown from the one that Maureen (the MG) put in to a rather large rock and alpine garden that I have been working on for 2 seasons. Last year, I put in a bit of work on it but this year, I am going at it full bore and designing/installing an area that will more resemble a nice spot for relaxing and enjoying the rock garden views, the hummers buzzing my ears, some wonderful scents to enjoy, and pine cones plopping on my head from the Ponderosa above the bench over there.

Living with my just-graduating son, who has decided not to follow in my footsteps as a Chef, I enjoy music of all sorts, getting out and driving on little-used backroads to nowhere in particular, travels to northern AZ to enjoy the wonders of Sedona (love those vortexes!) and Flagstaff, cooking any and all types of food (but concentrate on Vietnamese, Thai, Italian, Southwestern, and Greek), and, of course, gardening....otherwise, I wouldn't be here telling you so.

Enjoy life! And don't forget..."I feel a recipe is only a theme, which an intelligent cook can play each time with a variation." --Madame Benoit-- Well said and works in the gardens too, as we ALL know!

All my best-
Sam
