I'm new here :)
I'm from Seattle, WA and grew up in that cloudy/wet fall, winter & spring and dry/sunny summer environment. We never did much gardening in my household--my plant experience back then was mostly limited to learning about local ecology.
I lived in North Dakota for several years, and recently moved to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. I rent an apartment so I've no access to soil, but I do have a WSW-facing deck that backs up against a forested hill (so, not a lot of light!).
I am hoping to rent a garden plot from the city this spring (2013) and try growing some vegetables (tomatoes, salad greens...)
What else? I am a container gardener (the whole being-a-renter-thing), and last summer grew veggies for the first time on the deck--those tomatoes grew real tall in the ND sun! In Seattle our tomatoes only grew about 3' high...
I love houseplants, and am interested in learning more about their propagation. I would also like to learn how to keep palms alive better... sometimes I like to keep plants that have no business being houseplants, or being grown in Minnesota... :-D
I live in: United States
My zone is: USDA z4b
